And that is why you should also check the high bytes of Mario's position when making sprites that interact with him. Those flowers seem to have only checked if Mario was in the same relative spot on the sub-screen as they were, and thus interacted with him even when he was on an entirely different screen.

raocow uses Camtasia, but he recommended two other programs (fraps, camstudio) that you can use for free. I guess rao just answered a frequently asked question via video?

And it's the other way around...

Camtasia is a very stable program that records with good quality, while Camstudio is just a piece of trash.
Honestly, I do not recommend using Camstudio, it's just not a good program.
Crappy quality, unstable and is far less efficient than any other program I used by now.

It's the only reason I can come up with that would explain the seemingly random getting of fire flowers in that room and the fact that one of them was missing on your successful run. But I agree, your solution would be much easier.

These extra stages remind me of Touhou's Extra mode if anything else... Lots of trial and error and quasi puzzle-based stuff involved but what you know what you're doing and what you're supposed to do, it's really not that hard.

(I'm only half through the second red switch video so I might be wrong though!)
