Re: Twitter: The Thread
Eh, there are people I know that practice their religion in a very loing, caring way, and they use it as a motivation to do really great things they probably wouldn't otherwise. There's a ton of Christian charity workers in my area who have done wonders for the region, and the vast majority of the ones I know are publicly condemning this whack job.
Again, though, they're kinda in the minority, while the majority does, well, shit like this. Maybe even worse is the fact that a few of the teachers who taught me when I was in high school are really defending the board on Facebook. Makes me kinda sick to my stomach.

None of this matters, of course. Whether you're one of the Christian "crazies" or jerking yourself off for being an enlightened atheist, you're still going to hell. Do you not know that GOD sees what you do?

And when his parents complained to the Superintendent of Sabine Parish Schools, Sara Ebarb, she allegedly told them to transfer C.C. to a school twenty-five miles away because there were “more Asians” at that school. Ebarb also allegedly told C.C.’s parents that he should just “change” his faith. Quoting from the memorandum (bold mine):
Purporting to illustrate her point further, she noted that because she did not find it offensive that “the lady who cuts [her] toenails has a statue of Buddha,” the Lanes and their children should not be bothered by Roark’s in-class proselytization. Id. Ebarb then asked whether C.C. “has to be raised Buddhist” and whether he could “change” his faith. Id. Plaintiffs were shocked and expressed their dismay at Ebarb’s suggestion. Id.

Re: Twitter: The Thread
Today I found out my school is among the worst in the county.
The average A-level end grade for my Sixth form is a D+. On a scale of A*-E then just U(unclassified)
For anyone who doesn't know what an A-level is, basically it's the qualification that comes after the standard High-School qualification, usually you take 3-5 A-levels and it's pretty much the only thing that gets you into university in the UK, especially for one of the more academic subjects, such as Physics. Which requires, on average ABB or better. Which just so happens to be what I want to do.
I know that I'm statistically going to get just below that, based on my high school performance, but that's just a national average derived from millions of students over the past couple of decades.
Oh and also one of my closest friends quit today, so that's also a kick in the balls

Always a tricky area.zmonbobbo wrote:they use it as a motivation to do really great things they probably wouldn't otherwise.
The two schools that ran my sixth form are apparently shutting down and becoming an academy. I went to the other secondary school (there are three in my town), which hasn't had its own sixth form for 20-odd years and it's a catholic school, so it wants people to go to another town for another catholic school's sixth form. As for A-levels, I didn't do very well, apart from in Sociology. Got into uni still. Good job I didn't bother applying for likes of Lancaster, where they wanted three As.Diggertron wrote:Today I found out my school is among the worst in the county...

I'm more spiritual than religious myself, but I don't mind people that are the latter. I wish certain types out there wouldn't be so forceful about "spreading the word" or whatever. Using it as a crutch for any argument in this day and age is weak.

December, 2013 - Iceland in tragedy over first lethal police shooting in the country.
January, 2014 - An American cop literally rips the balls off of a completely innocent African-American teenager.
The juxtaposition is hilariously tragic.

Just so we're clear I was only talking about Limepie. That shenanigan was implemented by Argu and loved by myself.luigiman09 wrote:That's alright. Also, side note, I implemented a title onto somebody myself back then and people have yet to notice, or at least comment about it. Saddening.
You missed the Transformice craze by a mile unfortunately. Talkhaus, IRC and myself used to play it all the time, but everybody is mostly bored of it by this point.Hazelnut wrote:unaniem changes his avatar EVERY SINGLE DAY and it's driving me crazy
