Apparently, according to a list I read, Youtube is gonna be blacking out its site on Wednesday for around 12 hours, in protest of SOPA(Stop Online Piracy Act) and PIPA(Protect-IP Act).
EDIT: hahahaha those entries were lies youtube is still up, making this topic a complete embarrassment!

Y'know, Cesspool, that is, like, honestly... That was what I expected from you, and y'know what? That's my favorite thing that anyone does, specifically. Cesspool I adore you. - Duvi0 that same stream
I'm on Twitter and Discord so say hi to me on there cause I like to vanish from here forever repeatedly also I have sigs off so I can make my sig as ugly as I want and it won't bother me this is my sig btw
I believe it would have to just be in protest of PIPA because I believe SOPA has been stopped, atleast for the moment. I don't have many details, but uh, yeah. I'm lazy to google. You?

Well since a lot of Let's Players here (if not all of them) use Youtube as their medium to show their playthroughs, I thought it would be worth bringing to their attention that Youtube would probably be unavailable for some time on Wednesday.

It's pretty much stopped but they could try and pass it again later.
If enough people express displeasure for it, it won't get passed. As much as Reps/Sens would like to be on the good side of big companies, they'd also like to keep their somewhat lucrative jobs, and pissing off the public is a pretty good way of committing political suicide. If this is passed, voter turnout will be much higher in the next six years as many more younger people will vote for anyone else just to spite the current Congress, even if that particular person didn't vote for it (unless they DO do the research and more people will vote FOR them).

What will probably happen is that when attention wears off, they'll quietly pass it.
Congressional voting days are not secrets. With Amazon, Google, Wikipedia and more blacking out on the voting day, even if Congress delays the vote once again, there will never be a chance to pass it quietly.

Hahahaha, what? They'll never be able to quietly pass it. They can't keep the bill from the public and as soon as the public finds out about it, it'll no longer be quiet. The public will make a big deal out of it because it is an unconstitutional bill. Even if it did pass, the amount of complaints from the people and from big corporations like Google would make them rescind the bill quite quickly.
Welp, uh, looks like those "youtube.com" things on the unfiltered list was planted by liars!
But since there are people discussing the actual bill, can a mod move it to the Gazebo or something? It's kinda unnecessary for it to stay in here!

It's not meant to be a joke. It's just a visible sign of protest, not going on a strike.
They just should have redirected the links instead of lousy javascript that can be evaded easily. Every other site that went black goes to a url against all of this. wikipedia could and should have done the same thing for a better impact.
Then again, the people that know how to press esc or turn of javascript already know about SOPA so this way they still get to the casual person.

Hey.
You know that page you get redirected to that's all black on Wikipedia? And how there is a link at the end of the paragraph saying "learn more?" And how there's a question on that page that link takes you to asking if it's possible to access Wikipedia during the blackout? And how that page even tells you you can access Wikipedia by disabling javascript and then links to a couple of other ways to get around things?
Dude.
I don't know for certain.
But.
I think.
And this is just a guess.
That they used those lousy javascript redirects because they're easy to evade, and they still want people accessing their content.
It's a conspiracy.

That's where it gets deep, man! It's like... They want you to read their stuff, like it was some kind of... Encyclopedia, or something! Almost like they're more interested in sharing knowledge about a variety of topics instead of just one.
