RobinLSL's non-Touhou (NP: Espgaluda, arcade danmaku shmup!)

Post by RobinLSL »

blabla, my non-Touhou thread, blahblah

Don't forget to buy your train ticket! The destination, you ask? Me being the Master of the Universe, that is beating the famous indie game VVVVVV without ever dying or saving.

This is going to be a long and arduous trip, I'll tell you that!

Yeah, so I'm starting this crazy project. And I'm going to see it to completion, however long it takes. The first video in the series is me playing through the whole game rather casually, and after that we jump straight into training! I'm going to learn timings and methods to clear every obstacle of the game in a reliable fashion. Hopefully this will help other people who also want to get better!

This series will probably feature some bonus stuff (hard trinkets, super gravitron...).

And I will also be playing some custom levels! To alleviate the boredom of repeating the same things over and over.

I'd criticize you for that first level flub, but I think we all mess up like that in a Kirby game at some point. Only other legitimate criticism I have was the humming that went on for a bit too long. Other than that, you are talking about Kirby, mixing in facts with some random speech.

I've been hearing that the NES version was better...

And duel > samurai

It's really not. The physics and control feel off and honestly early-kirby kind of has an ugly graphical style (though still one of the better look NES games and the backgrounds admittedly are lovely).
The other things people complain about are kind of stupid: The GBA music is not as terrible as people make it out and people get way to up in arms over perceived power nerfs and bosses being bigger.

I prefer the samurai & air grind minigames, though.
Also NiD had Metaknightmare mode so all arguments to the contrary are instantly invalidated :smug:

Re: RobinLSL's non Touhou thread - now playing Jamestown

Post by RobinLSL »

Jamestown: legend of the lost colony. Some friends randomly showed this the other day, we played some 3-player coop and I was instantly convinced. And now I'm playing it. It's going to be a longish LP because I'll only be recording on weekends, but I think it's going to be worth it!

Now playing the Wind Fortress challenge of Cave Story, it's probably going to take about 3 videos.

Oh man, you're actually attempting that? I thought no one would ever even try that.
Good luck to you, my friend!

If it can be done in IWBTG, it can be done in VVVVVV. Best of luck to you.

Post by RobinLSL »

Me having to upload the videos of my super-awesome video game music concert means that I'm running a bit late on VVVVVV, so I decided to bump the thread a little!

I just added my first playthrough of a custom level, and more training videos will come very soon!

And now I've started doing some real runs! The new video is a bit long but it's probably worth it :D

(no spoilers!)

(And I emit the hypothesis that one of raocow's "catchphrases" is stolen from someone else! blasphemy?)

First post in a while! The LP I'm currently uploading is of Espgaluda, a famous slightly easy Cave shmup. Be sure to follow it! (it's really short... unless I do some more playthroughs).
