Surpassed Amount of Login Attempts?

Post by Karatekid5 »

Well, I tried to Log In a few minutes ago and when I hit login, my browser decided to lag, so after it loaded the page I got taken to another Login screen with a message saying that I surpassed the amount of login attempts allowed and had to enter a confirmation code, which was of course a spambot filter. After completing that, it let me log in. What exactly happened here?

I had the same problem last week, at least it sorts itself out if you leave it for a while

I had the same problem, but it logged me in just fine after. Maybe it's a security implement by TLs4 that he hasn't told us about so he can prevent spammers.

It's not a problem, it's a situation.
Also, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

the short answer is yes... we stepped up the confirmation code type things to help handle the spammers, the login thing is weird though!!

I sometimes have issues even seeing the log-in code at times, so I always get a bit nervous when that thing pops up. Still, if it stops the influx of spam accounts, I'm fine with it.

Except I'm still seeing spam accounts right now...

Anyways, alot of times when my internet gets full dc'd and I have to relogin I occasionally have to recaptcha after one login attempt when I was also pretty sure my password was correct.

You know the people who set up the spam systems used to employ people in countries such as India to fill out these CAPTCHA images and pay them per image/hour but now many of these spammers do things such put these CAPTCHA on free porn websites that they've set up, so that when people visit the website and fill in the code they're actually completing the CAPTCHA of another website for use by the spammers.
This means that spammers get their CAPTCHA completed for free, people get free porn and everyone lives happening ever after.
