Well another hour and 50 minute recording session down.
I decided to say "screw it" and used a savestate in Bowser Stage Right. You can't learn the level at all due to the randomness of the Fishin' Boo. Although once I got past the hardest part I was able to do the rest of the level in one shot. I have no idea how that happened. I have absolutely no regrets for using tools on this level, but I will still probably go back and do it toolless. Eventually. Probably at the same time as I do the fourth castle olololol (although honestly I could probably do that castle in one try at this point).
Oh boy. I've run into a bit of a snag here. I tried recording today and for some reason my headset isn't working. I can hear normal sounds just fine through it, but I can't record my voice, which is of course a problem when you're trying to LP something.
I have no idea what the problem could be other than the headset itself. I've tried restarting my computer, I've tried looking in audio devices and changing all the properties in Audacity, but I can't seem to get it.
So yeah, until I get this figured out, the best you have to look forward to is the end of the level probably Sunday morning, and maybe non-commentated toolless runs of the fourth castle and the second half of this level.
I really hope I don't have to replace it, because I just don't have the money right now...
I'm on Twitter and Discord so say hi to me on there cause I like to vanish from here forever repeatedly also I have sigs off so I can make my sig as ugly as I want and it won't bother me this is my sig btw
Huh. I never knew you could kill FFG with a slope. That's... kind of strange considering he's only vanilla-y found in a level with a bunch of slopes, so you'd think I would have found that out eventually. Either way, I'm sure that will help me in many not-this hacks from now on. <_<
Also This level took slightly more than the one try I said it would take at this point, but it still was much easier, even taking into account my prior knowledge. Up to the midpoint cost me more lives than after.
Although Fishing Fish Guy appears in a level with slopes in the original game, he doesn't go low enough to any of these slopes. He's really more a sort of 'hurt ceiling' in the original game more than anything.
Spoiler you can kill pretty much everything by sliding into it

Spoilers it's like one hex edit to fix that.

I did it last night. You can always change it back.

Also, I never noticed the "Re: *insert title here*" on the top of the posts. That would have helped pinpoint the time. So maybe I am stupid. I've spent too much time on GameFAQs. <_< (see? still using underscore-mouthed emoticons!)
My friend from school is going to lend me his old one, so I'll be able to record again as soon as the 9th.
Actually, another friend online had an idea to do a livestream or something and do a donation drive for a better headset. I'm not sure how that would work out though considering I only have 1100 subscribers, half of which don't even exist on Youtube anymore, and it's right after the holidays. I don't know how long it will take otherwise to get to a point where I think I'll be safe enough with my funds to get one myself.
Yeah that's a problem with a lot of modern games with "stories" and whatnot. Even the new Mario games (not the 3DS one though) have REALLY long intro levels and cutscenes that only serve to annoy you when you want to play through again. It fun to watch them the first time, assuming of course that you are playing and want to play, but unless you can skip them (something Zelda Twilight Princess did right), it can just turn you off of playing through again. And some games, like Twilight Princess, even being able to skip the cutscenes doesn't make the "tutorial" levels fun.
Apparently Skyward Sword picks up even more after the third dungeon, in that I'm more free to do things in the order I want as opposed to the typical Zelda-except-the-first formula of "go to this dungeon next". I haven't actually played the game in nearly a month, so I'm still forever at the beginning of that third dungeon.
I've been uploading videos of that game as well, but since it's not a true LP, I don't update it here.
Anyways, I got a video of the first... "half" of the next level. I'll probably upload it tomorrow, but the audio is not that good. I don't really know what I'm going to do...
I come into Skyward Sword knowing next to nothing about the game itself (on purpose of course), and I'm playing completely blind, unless something happens to a recording. Something like Hyper 6, at least I know the physics and whatnot of SMW and can enlighten the masses on things that they might not be able to see. And something like Nitroid for you, even though it's completely blind, at least you can say random Touhou facts as you meet the characters, which is more than I could do even after playing the games.
