Ugh, King Charles's Castle is kind of a mess. This level really should have been polished more before release. I know jank is a big part of ASMT, but a level like this should be made sure to leave a good impression, due to being the climactic level and the level people will pay the most attention to. The bugs in the Heavy Thwomp fight aren't even fun jank, they're just plain bad. I'm disappointed the level turned out this way, since it had a lot of potential.

A bug is, by definition, not "design".
Well it is a decent hack but sometime its just too repetitif there no level that actually pop in your face and your like oh yeah that level they all ressemble themselves and just monster along the way.

It seems to be bait, I sent them an essay about my opinion and they were like "im not gonna read your wall of text i've got stuff to do".
i tried to reply by baiting them with the ol' "i'm fucking your dad" technique but it seems that youtube's filter got it both times and didn't let me meme on him, a shame

When I played the hack some time after watching the original LP, and got to King Charles's Castle, I just dropped the pretense of treating it as a toolless level (not that I didn't have any savestate usage before that point). It just makes more sense when you don't try to treat it as long marathons. The castle is reminding me of the SMWC 9th door contest, where short bursts of level design got higher scores than levels that dragged on longer, even if they would've been considered better in some other contexts.
In the last room today with the capes, I personally like how some parts are designed around simple gliding mechanics instead of flight.

I agreed with him at first that the hack had a lot of problems and needed more polishing, but he seemed WAY too mad about it. I was considering taking the upper left door in the second set of rooms at one point, since the first two rooms weren't too bad, but once I got far enough in the last room to see the thwimps I quickly gave up on that idea.
One thing I sometimes like to do when I'm playing something really difficult in a 2D platformer is to visualize the areas of danger created by the enemies to see where I can go without being in immediate danger. Here's a rough drawing of what that looks like for the first area with thwomps and thwimps.
As you can probably see, you aren't really safe anywhere. While there is the method raocow figured out of just briskly walking under everything, I think my mind would be too on edge from fear of having to go through the two other rooms again to think of that, which would be why I gave up on this path when I saw that part for the first time. And it's not like the rest of the room after that is smooth sailing either, which is all the more reason to not bother with it.

I really don't think that hell room should've been let into the final version of KCC. The difficulty, as raocow said, is way out of place. Most of the rooms are just difficult, Zaquaa's Hell is basically Kaizo.

That last set of 3 rooms is just an odd choice. If I was in charge of taking the levels and assembling them into paths, I think I'd take the hell room and put it at the beginning of a path, and follow it with like, the easiest rooms possible as a reward for players who did the most obviously hard level. As it stands, I can't imagine why anyone would take this path

I really can't understand why the level was organized this way. The paths consist of either two rooms or three rooms, yet Hell gets assigned to a three room path?
