I thought you had to explicitly unlock the second meaning of the mantras first.
Question about the footprints:
Re: La-Mulana 2 - hey there captain hands
A raocow never solves a puzzle late, nor does he early. He solves it precisely when he means to!

Re: La-Mulana 2 - hey there captain hands
I read that the stretch goal for a postgame area didn't get met but they might add it later, was it?
Re: La-Mulana 2 - hey there captain hands
Maybe, the next stretch goal after the last one met would be (from the kickstarter page:) "Evil Stages La-Mulana had the insidiously difficult Hell Temple, and at this stretch goal, we'll add an even more difficult stage to La-Mulana 2. Do...do you even want that?!"
And there is an unfinished area hinted at in the game files (Oanne's Tower) that is speculated to be this difficult stage. There is no sign them actually finishing it though as far as I've seen.
Re: La-Mulana 2 - hey there captain hands
the weakness almost seems intentional, like the device he fused to is clearly not designed for combat. The best he can manage is trying to crush you with it, slowly generating small lasers from his hands, and dumping flames from vents as a last ditch effort.Draexzhan wrote: ↑2 years ago Aten-Ra is such a cool boss. Got the disco rave music, got a really flashy design, got the buildup....and iirc he's the only guardian in either game who actually creates life mid battle. I know a couple minibosses can do that, but their spawns are generally just babies or whatever. In a sense, he came the closest to replicating the Mother's power out of anyone.
It's a damn shame he's such a comparatively weak boss. Even in hard mode he doesn't put up much of a fight and in normal mode he's kind of a joke.
Re: La-Mulana 2 - hey there captain hands
Why does a freeware game get a bonus area but a kickstartered game that you pay for doesn't?Duker wrote: ↑2 years agoMaybe, the next stretch goal after the last one met would be (from the kickstarter page:) "Evil Stages La-Mulana had the insidiously difficult Hell Temple, and at this stretch goal, we'll add an even more difficult stage to La-Mulana 2. Not sure why this is spoilerd tbh

Re: La-Mulana 2 - hey there captain hands
It actually represents Anu (𒀭) as well. One of the few times my external knowledge of history and religion was particularly useful in the game since it clearly marked it as a symbol of note.FPzero wrote: ↑2 years agoWhen I played for the first time, I never made the connection that the "spike" symbol was the hint to figuring out the pyramid. Instead, there's a small image of a mantra summon on that same tablet, and so I took it upon myself to figure out what the mantra configuration was to make it look like the image on the tablet, then tried that. Still worked! But I like the proper solution better.
This puzzle took me awhile to completely figure out myself. I knew as soon as I saw my second footprint that I should keep track of them and it was all too obvious that the room with all the tablets was relevant to said puzzle but I couldn't recall the La-Mulanese numbers and only had three sigils at the time and didn't want to just brute force it like raocow did. Though I also overlooked the fact there was a second solution for quite awhile.
Re: La-Mulana 2 - hey there captain hands
Because the stretch goal wasn't completed, and development costs a lot of money? I don't know for how long or under what circumstances the first-first game was made but I doubt it's comparable to LM2.TiKi wrote: ↑2 years agoWhy does a freeware game get a bonus area but a kickstartered game that you pay for doesn't?Duker wrote: ↑2 years agoMaybe, the next stretch goal after the last one met would be (from the kickstarter page:) "Evil Stages La-Mulana had the insidiously difficult Hell Temple, and at this stretch goal, we'll add an even more difficult stage to La-Mulana 2. I've heard reports that they may still put in Oannes' Tower sometime, and lots of unused assets for it are still in the game code, most notably a visible exit in the La-Mulana ruins map into Spring in the Sky which never comes into play.

Okay this is a good reason. Like damnDonut wrote: ↑2 years ago From what I have heard, along with the aforementioned fact that Naramura has done the bulk of the work on the series, midway through development on 2 his biggest co-developer had to stop due to illness, leaving him to pick up all their work. So stuff like that really wasn't on the table for the game at release, if at all. Luckily future video games, such as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will do away with mandatory religious activity

Also that was a strange bug with the five soul door in Ancient Chaos but I'm pretty sure I actually had that happen to. Was rather confusing. I dunno why that hasn't been fixed yet.
