Why don't you watch those videos? They were made for you. ~It wants me to listen to a track from the Twilight soundtrack. Youtube has me PEGGED. I just need a commercial to tell me which brand of feminine care products I should buy and where I can get the metal plate in my head demagnetized and I'm SET.

To be fair, the other recommendations are a Craig Ferguson clip (because one time I watched a Craig Ferguson clip; I have never watched the show but have no particular problem with it), a song that I've ALREADY listened to, and a track from the one of the Street Fighter III iterations, because I listened to some Chrono Trigger music once.

The videos weren't MADE for me, they were AIMED AT me, and each shot missed. One of them, cataclysmically, instead nailing the gas tank on a bus full of nuns and orphans, obliterating the lot of them.

And in the end, my experience on Youtube was made neither better nor worse. It's like you order a cup of coffee from the same place every day and one day your cup is a different color and the method of opening the lid is different but still accessible and when you think about it, it probably took a committee of people to decide that all this needed to happen. But when you sip the coffee, it's still the same fucking cup of Joe you have every day, just with different packaging, and in two weeks time you'll stop noticing. And then six months later, they change the cup and lid again, AND NOBODY GIVES A FLYING FUCK FOR THE REST OF TIME.

I do check out some recommended videos sometimes and SOMETIMES they're okay, just to be a bit of a counterpoint. Though yes, like everything else, most of them are crap (or ignored)

Once in a blue moon they'll recommend something to me that will look interesting and might be good.

But for the most part I actively ignore the recommendations because they so frequently miss.

I pay much more attention to the things people I sub to like. Because I don't sub to anybody who likes Fred or Smosh or RWJ or any of those big YT schmendricks who make money hand over fist for making essentially the same videos over and over for the drooling masses scrambling for a square millimeter of their respective cocks to plant their lips on.

The only vlog I sometimes watch is Tobuscus' lazyvlogs but that's because I'm subscribed to his LP channel. (which is starting to get a bit dull and repetitive now)

Vlogs can be interesting if the person is interesting, but most people aren't and aren't creative to boot so you get RWJ taking other people's videos and jump-cutting/mugging and raking in the dough.

I mean a part of me is fiercely jealous of the man making bank for basically surfing Youtube, spending 2 hours in front of a camera and 2 hours in Sony Vegas editing and that's his weekly fucking job. But he's still a douche.

Is there some way to change how youtube loads stuff? Cause every time I try to watch a video no matter what I do it seems to just stop and buffer or whatever right at a cool part. Or not at a cool part. Usually whenever it feels like it. Also sometimes when it does this it will take me back to the beginning of the video and I have to try and figure out where it did this. I don't know, it seems really shitty and I don't have this problem with other video hosts

I dunno if this'll solve your problem, but you could try YouTube's HTML5 format:

Haven't noticed many differences between the flash and html5 versions, but html5 seems to have faster "video scrubbing", or whatever the term for that is called.

It didn't help, but complaining did. After having the problem for a couple of days (and then one day when videos wouldn't play) youtube magically works normally again
