Well, since it's Dimps, I'm expecting the usual bottomless pits everywhere by the time the end rolls around.

sega remembers him for a bit longer, surprisingly enough
it'll still definitely be a while still until secret rings is canonized though with how long unleashed's gonna be by the end

On the question of what other countries use names that people have...
What about Georgia? That's the first one that popped into my head.
Anyone got any others?

Re: All the S@nics - Unleashed (WiiS2) - Hungry Like the Wolf
Fun Sonic Facts!
The visual style of Unleashed was born out of a desire to see a global illumination solution used for the game's lighting — that is, light reflecting from one object in the scene onto others. Therefore, the developers came up with a process to use distributed rendering over hundreds of computers to pre-calculate the lighting for each action stage, often coming up to almost 20km of simulated terrain, in two or three days. Characters, enemies and objects would then be lit with Sonic Team's "Light Field" technology to blend in with the pre-calculated lighting, thus avoiding the problems of previous Sonic games where Sonic would not match the lighting of the level and thus stuck out like a sore thumb. Because the game was being developed for two vastly different levels of hardware, just like Sonic 06, two development "silos" were set up to work on two separate builds of the game: one for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 version utilizing the Hedgehog Engine, and one for the Wii and PlayStation 2 version, which instead used a modified version of an existing, internal Sega engine.
Though this time both teams were able to properly communicate to ensure resources could be shared and not wildly diverge from one another.

For the "aura" thing, I think it might just be an attempt at heat distortion (despite it being nighttime) in Shamar? Like, look at this big ring in Shamar:
But then compare it to this big ring in Apotos:
Sometimes, the game also seems to use the aura thing for level geometry, but I suspect that's an attempt at motion blur, and it's far less noticeable anyway. Beyond that, I think it might also be suffering from a case of bad textures or an ugly blur filter, compounding the issue; regardless, it's (mostly) unique to Shamar.

Nah. You're nearly thirty videos deep. Keeping the series looking the same just makes more sense than toggling filters or resolutions.
Re: All the S@nics - Unleashed (WiiS2) - Hungry Like the Wolf
I watched a run of that last stage from another channel just to compare. The door to the left of the correct choice spawns some low level enemies that would've given you the last bit of experience you needed for an S-Rank. Other than that, no clue what's behind the other doors. Probably more. Next!

I guess Adabat's flag has the same appearance as Thailand's flag...

It's generally Southeast Asia.
Here's my attempt at equivalents:
Includes a country raocow hasn't visited yet and cannot visit in this version, as well as the one after Adabat. Spoiler alert ig
Shout out to 12yo me trying to get my mom to buy the PS3 version of the game for me based on that it had an expanded Mazuri (she was born and raised in Angola). Cutest shit I've ever done. I had a modchipped PS2 from my brother, so I could play this version either way, and I did beat it. I remember it being mid, need to replay it.

Seeing more and more pits lately. I mean, it's expected, but it's also really annoying when most of the Werehog levels to this point were basically simple beat-em-up and downs.
Re: All the S@nics - Unleashed (WiiS2) - Hungry Like the Wolf
Can I just say that I really dig the Adabat theme? The game's OST has been quite good overall but this track in particular impressed me above and beyond my expectation going in.
Re: All the S@nics - Unleashed (WiiS2) - Hungry Like the Wolf
In agreement with you on that. I enjoy Adabat's day and night stage themes.
That Shamar boss is way different in the HD version, but I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not. Will be interesting to see if you can get the game up and running without too many hiccups when it's time. Think you've still got a bit to go, but it won't be that much longer either unless you pad things out.

Re: All the S@nics - Unleashed (WiiS2) - Hungry Like the Wolf
The best way to play Unleashed HD is on the Series X.
PS3 is already the worst version, I can't imagine emulation helping much given the state of it.

I mean, Pokecapn and his buddies were able to make it function consistently, on several occasions, over a decade ago.

This seems to be whatever shoddy implementation Wii games used to implement some sort of "bloom" effect. It's quite noticeable in Mario Kart Wii, for example. not sure why this game only has it in some levelsLord Ruby wrote: ↑6 months ago For the "aura" thing, I think it might just be an attempt at heat distortion (despite it being nighttime) in Shamar?
