It's more that they're just using the highlight palette, and for some reason used that only as a copy of the general palette...?
That would be visually confusing because they already used that for megaman's lifebar. You'd have two identically colored lifebars right next to each other.

Also I confirmed that's NOT a thing for MM4-6, so I guess they realized it was a dumb idea and scrapped it.

Concrete Shot shuts Galaxy man's wormholes

Yeah if there was any way I'd logically think to stop a black hole, it would be to cover it in concrete and wait for it to dry

Concrete does patch up holes, so I'll allow it. 10's weapon weaknesses also make sense. But here's a reason why I like 3 a lot. There are hardly any elemental-themed bosses. It's basically Spark Man, and that's it. It's the only game of the main ten with no ice or water-themed bot. That's why the weapon weaknesses are odd. The bosses are actually more than just elements, and that leads to some interesting stages.

Jumping on the "favorite Mega Man classic" train. I'd even go so far as to say it's my second-most favorite game of any Mega Man series, behind Legends 2. Excellent soundtrack from Top (hehe) to bottom including the iconic Wily 3/4 song, and a bunch of actually legitimately challenging stuff, particularly the SkullBot fights (there are some fantastic Buster Duel challenges to be found here, most notably QuickMan), and plenty of unobtrusive glitches and Player 2 Controller chicanery if you're just looking to have a fun time.

I never found them too bad? Like yeah theyre harder than the rest of the game but on the whole they feel like natural evolutions of the ideas brought forth in the original levels, and on the whole they have p good design unless im forgetting something drastic.

Doc Needle, mandatory Rush Jet with a weapon energy pickup that doesn't respawn.

Despite the fact that Rush stays vertically aligned with Mega Man no matter what, Rush Jet only drains energy while Mega Man is actually standing on top of it. Spend the entire trip constantly jumping up and down - which does not make dodging the Parasyus any more difficult, before anyone asks - and the entire flight will use less than a quarter of its energy.

On the contrary, the MM3 Rush Jet is better than any future Rush Jets by virtue of allowing for omni-directional controls and not being a constant energy drain.

If broken equals better, then sure.
It's supposed to be a constant energy drain, but a glitch allows it to not be.

I never knew the spark shock could kill those grenade enemies. Of course, they're arguably the one enemy you wouldn't want to kill, so good job spark shock; even when you do kill things you're still useless. Anyway, I didn't mention this the first time he showed up but I really like Proto Man. He's one of my favourite Mega Man characters.

I considered Shadow Man's weapon beating Spark Man to be one of the more logical weaknesses in this game. Considering Shadow Man gives you the shadow blade, it's really just the same logic as Cut Man's weapon beating Elec Man in Mega Man 1.

Is it actually a glitch, though? I had always assumed it was programmed that way intentionally, since Rush doesn't vanish when he plows into a wall (like in all the other games). If he kept draining energy while still on-screen even while you're off doing what you needed Rush Jet to do, that'd be pretty unfortunate.

Back in the day, my brother had a ton of trouble with the robocats in this stage. He ended up using Magnet Missle on the first one, then for some reason that wasn't as effective on the second (maybe it went after the fleas instead of the cat?) so he tossed Search Snakes at it.

But apparently it doesn't even take that many buster hits? I guess he had trouble dodging the yarn/hairballs.

Paragraph wrote: 5 years ago Top Spin is my favourite weapon in all of Mega Man, but you really have to know how it works and why it "randomly" consumes so much energy. The trick is to never press the button for too long when hitting something that isn't killed in one hit. Because due to a bug, if you hold down the button while you're "in" an enemy that isn't killed instantly, the weapon's energy continues to drain. So if you're just toying around trying to see what it works against, just push it once at the beginning of your jump.
This sounds like a serious drawback, but it's actually only against one enemy: Shadow Man himself (and the Doc Robot that's weak to it I guess, but eeeeh). Everything else either dies in one hit, or is immune to Top Spin, so you can learn not to use it against them.

What I'm saying is this: if you know which enemies are weak to it and in which stages they appear, you can dance through entire levels just one-shotting everything in your path with a twirl and a flourish and it's glorious. Really annoying enemies like the hopping dudes in Shadow Man, the parachuters in the same, the pole vault guys, they're all felled in an instant and you're completely immune to them while you're spinning, as contact kills them, not you. But if you're just playing around to see if this weapon might work against...oh no, it doesn't and now the energy is gone...then you will hate it, yeah.
Oh yeah, so I tried this out last night when I was finishing up my MM3 run. I got to the section with the parachuting guys, equipped top spin, jumped up towards one, let forth a spin, and...
Mega Man bounced off the guy like he's made of rubber, straight into a pit without even dealing any damage. Never touched the thing again until Shadow Man refight/Gamma

No you have to bounce back ONTO the platform! Basically, you hit them as they're between the platforms, then you land safely back from where you jumped.

With how much you praise Top Spin, you should change your name from Paragraph to...Top Spinagraph?
Uh...Do I just sign here? What do you mean it should be obvious? There are people in this world...well...a whole lot of people that can't follow basic instructions!

i'll have to agree with the paragraph, top spin IS super great. a lot of people pass it up because of the shadow man glitch and it being a melee weapon but it can kill some annoying enemies easily and almost do entire stages on its own.

That seems way less convenient and more risky than just using the magnet or shadow blade or even the buster!

Top spin is my favourite weapon from this game. The problem with its energy depleting may be something that probably shouldn't be in the game but as long as you know how it works it shouldn't happen. To my understanding, when you hit an enemy with top spin one unit of energy is depleted, then either the enemy is killed, or you take damage, depending on if the enemy can be killed with top spin. The problem is that during your invincibility frames you can't take damage. So the game ends up running through that process every frame, depleting one energy each time until you run out (this would be why top spin shreds a certain boss that has no invincibility frames). It certainly isn't random like I occasionally see people claim. Anyway, here's a video of top spin in action (in what is the silliest use of it I've seen).

It's reeeeal fun, though. Also, how would you use Shadow Blade there? And I did the level third, not gonna use Search Snake...speaking of, if you wanna check out the Snake Man vid, I Top Spin real good in it, too.

This boss is so tough to fight without getting hit for me. I hardly ever get around the flying fists when they're on the way back. It's that whole shoot and dodge thing. I can do one at a time, not both.
