I'm kind of a lurker/infrequent poster around here, but I figured this is something you guys would be interested in. This thread is about the new media catalog/db site I've been working on, MyMediaLog

This is a site that serves the same sort of purpose as backloggery or myanimelist, except it's for every type of media. So it basically works as centralized journal for all of the video games, movies, books, and shows that you've experienced... Every item in the catalog has a "log" thread that you can post in to remind yourself where you left off at, or just to organize your thoughts/opinions or whatever.

This is basically everything I've ever wanted out of a media catalog site. The interface and search features are much more convenient than the other sites I've tried. The catalog is taggable and has a lot of advanced search capabilities. You can search for items by including/excluding tags, filter items you've logged/not logged, or added/not added to your backlog, or by doing an "OR" tag search.. You can sort items by your first or most recent log post, or by release date or by title or whatever. You can also view details stats of your media progress by certain tags, or list the items in a timeline view base on when you first played/watched/read them.

The catalog is nowhere near complete, I don't think it ever will be, but I made it so that adding items and tagging them is very easy to do. Here's some examples of catalog searches showing what has been added far:

I'll be adding items to this site all the time, whenever I get recommendations for something to add to my backlog. I hope other people will join and add stuff to the catalog too. If you're like me and want to be really completionist, you could add everything you could remember ever playing/watching on here, and create your own centralized comprehensive timeline of all the media you've ever experienced.

My favorite feature of this is the backlog randomizer. I've been using this on my own for the past few months or so, and it makes it much more interesting to go through my backlog since I never know what game I'm gonna play next.

It lets you basically roll a roulette to determine the next game/show/movie/book to go through in your backlog. There's also different backlog priority statuses, so you can make it so certain backlog items are higher priority and get selected by the randomizer more often than other ones. So like, if you have a long RPG or visual novel or something that you've started, you can put that into highest priority and continue using the randomizer each day so you get some variety while still going back to that long story based game frequently enough.

I might change the name of this btw... it didn't occur to me until afterwards that "NEETLog" might sound a bit too embarrassingly nerdy for most people.

EDIT: I've just done a big site overhaul, and now the name has changed to "MyMediaLog", which is much more descriptive of what the site is actually about.
