No no no, don't apologize! The level is a star world level, which is post-game, in a very hard hack, it's supposed to be a challenge! I hope nobody sees this level through "QubicTom goggles", by which I mean a novice trying something waaaay too hard for them! It would be like Frictional Games apologizing for Amnesia: The Dark Descent because it's too scaryRyrir wrote: After watching the video I'm really sorry that I didn't catch the very lopsided midpoint during beta-testing. The only excuse I have is that I already knew what I was doing before I "officially" played through the level (because I played some levels before applying for the whole testing thing), so I could just consistently beat it around my third try every time I played it and never really thought about the placement of the midpoint! It's a really obvious flaw though and we really should have caught it before the release

Also, I think that's the last of nerfs I dislike. Other ones are either pretty neutral to me, or improve the level (like that Chains of Atrophy nerf which should have been all along).
Because I really hope I didn't hurt Iso's feelings, I will make an apology video for him! The suffering is entirely on me being stubborn, haha!nathanisbored wrote:There's a lot of speculation about what Iso intended, but I assure you he didn't intend for people to hate his level, and he didn't intend for it to be repetitive and lopsided. It was an oversight, he fixed it, and I think he just really wants the guilt to stop
This is an amazing comment! You are absolutely, 100% right - by not patching, especially on levels tamed by the patch, I'm being a hypocrite. I definitely rely on the dragon coin saving feature, honestly I wouldn't have any dragon coin sets collected at all if it didn't exist, I'm just not good enough at the game. If I can use the dragon coin crutch, why do I refuse to use the level updates? I'm being stubborn, that's the honest answer, I think.morsel/morceau wrote:Chains was a level submitted early on before the dragon coin saving was introduced. I vote that you revisit the level and 'collect' (touch the outlines of) the dragon coins under the author's initial conditions: the entire level to be beaten without death, avoiding the midpoint and denying yourself the luxury of resetting the final room [!].
I really appreciate the comments here and on YouTube, and I hope Iso reads them too - everyone likes your levels, dude, don't let my experience (which was self-inflicted) make you think otherwise!
