Windows 7 emulator problems

Post by tatanga »

This seemed like the best place to post a thread about emulator difficulties.

I've been running various emulators (zsnes, visual boy advance, nester, rdragon, etc.) with no problems up until recently. I had finished editing a gb ROM and loaded visual boy advance to test it. Visual boy advance loaded fine at first, but when I selected "open" and chose the ROM file, it froze. Strangely, trying to load a nes, snes, or visual boy ROM caused their respective emulators to crash as well.

Interestingly enough this problem may be related to my recent inability to view youtube videos as well. What strikes me as odd is that all of these programs were working fine up until today. The solution is probably fairly simple, so if anyone has any ideas of what the problem is please let me know.

SUCKS TO BE YOU HAHAHAHAHA!

edit: step one open start menu
step two type "system re" into the search bar
step three click system restore

Okay I fixed it. If anyone else ever has this problem, here's what I did:

- reset IDE drivers and let windows download correct version
- reinstall Java and shockwave

Now that I got them working I created a save point so I could just follow wareng's advice if something like it happens again. Oddly enough this fixed both the problems with youtube videos as well as the emulators.
