New #talkhaus IRC channel?

So, since the old IRC channel kinda split off from Talkhaus, I thought it might be nice to have a new "official" one for those like me who 1) want to talk to other Talkhausers who don't go to the other channel, but 2) can't or don't want to use Skype. So I made one.

I apologize if there's already a Talkhaus IRC channel elsewhere I'm not aware of, and this is in no way meant to disrespect Rena or anyone else. It's just a thought I had for a while, and figured, hey, I may as well go for it, nor is it meant to "compete" with anyone. Dunno how popular/active it'll be, but it's worth a shot, and hey, there's nothing to lose just by trying something new.

Well! Okay, this has been a great success. And by "success", I mean "spectacular failure", with only a couple people having shown up.

Curse you, Skypehaus. And Skype in general for being so... voice-chatty... and not so suitable for someone like me who has such incredible anxiety issues... Curses. I forgot where I was going there.

Oh well. Didn't hurt to give it a shot.

Just to clear up a possible misconception, Skypehaus isn't voice. There's a limit on how many people can be in a group to Skype call, so any calls that do happen take place in the various spin-off type groups (generally game-related).

Yeah literally 100% of chat in skypehaus is text-chatting, we only do calls in separate chats when we're playing videogames basically and even then you don't necessarily need to talk or anything if that's your concern, they're we're totally alright with me people just using the text chat in the calls.

e: And for the record I've been meaning to pop in and check out the new #talkhaus, I just... haven't. Because effort.

Oh the "refusing to talk because of anxiety" isn't that much of a problem, really.

I used to completely refuse talking since I was kinda anxious about my german accent, but after some time (*cough* about a year *cough*) I started to feel confortable and then it just... happened. (Much to my surprise most peeps expecting me to have a high voice. heh.)

As for the "real" skypehaus stuff... it's basically just texting. Same as IRC with a few minor differences.

Oh, and there is a lot of talking. A lot. There are so many very active members that you basically never have to wait for an answer and/or someone to talk with. Except when 90% of the Skypehaus is asleep due to timezones. The only people you would meet around that time are people from Down-Under or Europeans.

But overall, I recommend joining and seeing for yourself if you like it or not.
