I realize you do that with pretty much every game ever but still
Using any items ever is dishonourable !!
it mostly just seems silly that rao spent all his money on mana upgrades but only ever uses the fishing rod
I would suggest getting the gold armor if any of the other armor effects aren't appealing to you, because it's stats are exactly the same as the regular knight plate but with extra fun and flare
also the fire rod is super useful like forever so feel free to fry people with powerful magic

I know in OBS you can do a Game capture instead of a window capture, and it won't grab Steam notifications. There might be something similar for the software raocow is using.
Haha, wow, that level went by quickly. Though that's probably because raocow didn't find any music sheets or the area where the item was hidden. He was on full-steam-ahead mode today, haha.
I don't know if anybody else has brought it up, but if you want steam notifications to stop popping up during recording it is pretty easy. Here's a visual guide.

from what I can tell, raocow seems to be treating the game like he does Mega Man, where he refuses to use "boss weapons" (relics in this case) unless necessary, preferring to be "buster-only", or shovel-only in this case. The game sorta encourages this with that achievement for not getting any Relics, but...unlike Mega Man, the levels are designed to MAKE you use the Relics while still being possible without, so I think raocow's eventually going to give in and start using them once he feels it's necessary for victory.

I think raocow's main problem with secondary/boss weapons is resource management: if he's going to use one, he'll overuse it until it runs out, exceptions being gimmicky ones, such as the fishing hook in this game. It's his all-or-nothing mentality with the sub-weapons that just turns him off using them until it is required, such as the treasure/gem stages, not helped with the shared mana pool. That, and his expectation that levels can be beaten with the basic arsenal and only using that, which is true in Mega Man games.

Three important threads for me:
imo a lot of the relics in this game aren't even that good, like the dust knuckles in this one are completely useless beyond the few set areas thats designed around them
also has raocow broke that wall right above the door in the room with the punny toadfrog, theres like treasure in it but i cant really remember if he did

I'll contest that the relics are bad. A couple are definitely less useful than others (Alchemy Coin), but there's actually quite a few places where they're useful (Check out the speedruns of the game if you're curious about things like the knuckles)
On the topic of 4-legged insects: They have to have 6 legs at some point during their life-cycle. There are some butterflies for instance, that only have 4 legs as adults.
And it's true some of the relics have limited use, but the Phase Locket, Flare Wand, and Throwing Anchor are super useful.
The only armor I've ever used in this game is the one that lets you do a charge shot after doing a few pogos. The rest seem pretty useless. I've seen the magic one used in speedruns, but I play these games way too tank-ey to be able to use that effectively.
Also: on relics, the
propeller dagger
can be super useful in platforming segments. You can basically fly with it if I recall correctly.
Mole Knight's stage is okay, but man, I didn't remember much from this outside of getting the knuckle upgrade here when I was watching raocow play through it. I even forgot about the gelatin gimmick until I saw it happen. Guess this one didn't really stand out to me back in the day. The battle, on the other hand, is fast and frantic. I like that you have to keep up with a boss that gets faster at digging and flying through the stage. Plus, if you don't dig him up in time during that one attack, he gets an invincibility deal.
raocow you should really use that charge slash in the bosses at least, when Mole Knight was just kinda flying past you like that you could've been charging up slashes... I think. I forget if you have enough time but if so that'd have been super good.
