I like that boss. It has fairly simple rules but still is not quite predictable, and it causes panic and is intimidating, and also makes loud noises.
The key level as a whole was Pretty Neat.
... Probably.

It's not as bad the article makes it out to be, in my opinion. After beating the game myself, I'd say that any potential creepiness in

Reckloo

is countered with the game's usual silliness.

So far I'm impressed by how fast this play through has been going. It took me a lot of tries to pass through some of the stages that raocow's been beating without much error, like the Golden Switch Palace. It's also kind of cool to see how intuitive the game'is challenges can be to other players.

Also, raocow, there's an secret unmarked spot on the map that you can enter if you move Toadette over it. It's somewhere near the HMS Piranha. It's not too special, but I think it's pretty neat and convenient, especially for later in the game .

Editors of TV Tropes all have diseased minds so I would take anything they say with a grain of salt the size of Jupiter

I had a hard time with that waterfall jump, too. The fluttering timing doesn't feel as flexible as it did in Yoshi's Island. You have to wait for a longer interval before you can flutter again. Perhaps to make up for it, the second flutter lasts longer than the first.

It doesn't look like you were running when jumping. I think you should already be running when you hop onto that block.

Also, interesting fact about the game mechanics is that when you knock an enemy and it rolls off the screen, you can still eat that with Yoshi.

Gonna be "that guy" there and say that you weren't supposed to jump from the block, but were supposed to get a running start and jump off the platform. With your speed, you should be able to make it in just one "chain" flutter. Don't worry, I was confused for a good while as well.

Yeah gotta admit the flutter jump timing is kind of finicky, like you have to wait about a second before you can do it again. To be honest I'm not sure why it didn't seem to bother you before. I mean, one of the first things I tried when I got yoshi in this game was to chain flutter, because I didn't understand why it only seemed to work half of the time, so every time I had a yoshi I tried to flutter as much as possible until I got the timing down

Man, raocow sure had a lot of trouble with that medal. I only needed two tries to get there (from the top of the block, no less)! Of course, I also died at the boss, so that evens things out.

Also, finally the Top Secret Area! You're going to need it, rao-man.

Not being a big fan of Yoshi fluttering, today's level was one of the few in the game I didn't really care for at all. Took me a while to realize where the medal was, although I didn't have to try it as many times as raocow did.

I am, however, pleased to learn about the Top Secret Area. Never found that one myself.

Yeah, I did a running jump from the edge of the platform as well, specifically because I couldn't chain flutter jumps together.

Ah, geez, this looks like it'll be bothersome to go through, what with there being no return until you do enough levels or make enough progress. I'm not sure if I want to continue playing along at this point, though I hope that I can be assure that the warp zone opens up real soon!

So here we are. Plays have been enacted. Empires have come and gone. The mightiest have passed away and withered, alike the least. Fires have burned, thousandfold. Yet, did not the great wind serenely continue its course? Does not the blackbird still sing its song? Does not the mistletoe still dwell in the oak's crown? Forgotten, what once has been told. Veiled, the words that once so rang out. Shrouded, like the larva in its cocoon. Let him hear it, who will.

Idunno, I like the trick of being "trapped in sleep" suddenly like all the other toads. It's nicely climactic and thematic! And you got that warning from your bob-omb friend, so you shouldn't have too much unfinished business neglected.

As for those inaccessible sub-levels from Kammy's Manor, I think my "do everything systematically" instincts can be put to rest by how explicitly we're shown that we're meant to only do three of those for now. I'm fine with saving some backtracking for later when it's clearly structured like that.

This is the point where the game went from "nice and fun" to "this is GREAT" for me. And it will only get weirder and better.

Going back and doing the other wings in Kammy's castle isn't really a big deal, since they're all fairly short. It might seem a little anticlimactic after the nightmare of Subcon, though.

Okay, despite my misgivings I've gone ahead into Subcon with...not enough lives, I guess? At least Kammy Manor was pretty simple enough, even with getting the Wing H medal.

And so it begins.

Nightmare-Subcon has some of the neatest level and boss designs in the game that aren't in the Fungitorium, I find. That said however, you should pace yourself, raocow; if you thought Glum Valley was a difficulty spike, then you're in for one hell of a ride.

On the bright side, at least you and raocow can suffer together. :P

I like how the smb2 tileset was upscaled to work with everything else. It was a little surreal to see the original level made from them.
