Online multiplayer (apparently cross-play with Steam owners is possible somehow), DRM-free, auto-patching, achievements. Completely optional.

Personally I'm excited for this, since the lack of auto-patching was my only real issue with GOG.

I'm interested in this since I avoid buying games on Steam anymore. Gog is my main source of games now followed by Desura and Gamersgate. The Gog downloader is decent but it's really kinda buggy. This actually explains why that hasn't updated in months too.

I personally found the GOG Downloader kind of pointless, considering you had to go to the website and initiate the downloads there anyway to make any actual use of it (or at least that's how it was the last time I used it).

It still has some pros compared to standard downloads. For one thing you could pause and resume downloads. Then on top of that you could set it to automatically run the installers after download (although apparently not patches?) and it was supposed to handle downloading in a more efficient and faster way than they could with normal downloads. Plus it would automatically notify you when a game has updated as well. So it's nothing major but it does offer more than the normal downloads.

Figured I should bump this (wow it's basically been a year) since the Galaxy client is entering public beta. You still need to submit your email address to request an invite, but supposedly the turnover time should only be "a few days".
