The Looting of Crates Thread

Post by Bwarch »

I've decided to give Loot Crate a go.

http://www.lootcrate.com/

Basically you pay for a plan of however long you want to give them money per month (1 month, 3 months, 6 months being available (1 month means that you can cancel at any time but it is also the most expensive, albeit by a measly dollar)) and they send you a box filled with geeky nick knacks every month you want them to/pay them to.

Shirts, figurines, comic books, general accessories and so on and so forth. There's the blind element where you don't know exactly what you're getting every month.

Here's a vid of somebody unboxing their loot crate if you're curious enough: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nq814-Cvqug

It'll be kinda neat to just wonder "Oh man I wonder what I'm getting in the mail this month." Because let's be honest it's nice to have something to look forward to, which is why things like magazine subscriptions and whatnot are neat.

DOUBTFUL but if anybody does want to sign up after this explanation here's my ref link which you can use to get me some money off my own subscription. http://mbsy.co/69nL3

Honestly, that looks really cool! I'm broke right now, but if I ever get my finances straight I'm going to give that a shot.
I'm probably driving right now.

Asked for this to be made into its own thread since maybe it can work as a stand alone thread, thanks Rena~

I've already got a fellow Talkhauser signing up once they can, and along with Zmon it'll be fun to have a thread we can discuss the loot in. Of course, it should be said that if you DO get into loot crate shenanigans and you DO want to not be spoiled on what the box of the month contains you should avoid this thread until you get yours when we get into that.

As well, one last thing I forgot to mention is that each month they also send out a super duper loot crate to a random subscriber, so there's a chance you'll get a crate that has a ton more stuff than the normal ones in it.

AH MAN, META GAME.

I watched the first 2 Ashens unboxings and after that realized there's really nothing that interesting in them and so I stopped.

So May's franchises in the box are going to be
Adventure Time, Zelda and Minecraft.
I guess I picked a pretty great time to sign up!

Interesting coming from Mr. Stuart Ashan himself.

I've been told about this a few times and been wondering when the best time to start would be... and, well... this month's stuff seems pretty nice. Might not be a bad time to sign up!

Got my Loot Crate! Spoilers spoilers spoilers~
So everything included in mine:
-Legend of Zelda T-Shirt
-Adventure Time figurine + AT tin
-LoZ bottle opener
-Minecraft keychain
-Markiplier and CaptainSparklez and other assorted stickers
-Normal Loot Crate pin

Honestly, if it wasn't for the t-shirt I'd probably be miffed, but the t-shirt alone covers the cost of the crate. The Adventure Time figurine was HORRIBLE. It's a random figurine so maybe it was just the one I got but it was really, really ugly. AND I TOUCHED ONE OF THE ARMS AND IT BROKE OFF...

Like seriously the shirt is the saving grace since it is a neat shirt lmao

The design is alright and the shirt is of pretty good quality. It also fits me quite nicely! Really pleased that I got the sizing right the first time.

Overall I'm okay with this month's Loot Crate but I really hope they don't include as many knick knacks next time. The keychain and bottle opener are pretty disappointing, and I agree with Ashens when I think that I don't really want the Loot Crate pin included. Maybe it would be nice if they made it to where you could get a pin or you could get something else? I understand pin collectors being interested, it's just not something I find very dandy myself.
