The current trends suggest the a randomized run is going to happen. Also, if you want to participate, then please select something in the poll.

Having done pokemon races in the past, of multiple gens, it's good fun, but yes a tad time consuming. I use a lua script for true randomization of wild pokemon.

I don't think it's going to be much of a difference on the point of view of the players.

Are we doing multiple roms? I think a single rom with balanced starters should be made.

If we do randomizer we've gotta use the same seed, otherwise there's no real race, it's just a buncha guys starting different games at the same time.
Also not full randomized, that's super unfun, types are different the way types matchup is different, the first pokemon you face could be a lv 100, stuff like that just won't work.

I don't think levels are randomized under any current method. Types and stats are likely to stay the same. Movesets can be randomized by element, or fully randomized.

Randomize them by type, full randomization makes them WAY too unpredictable. Also getting no STAB move would suck.

Try using Virtual Audio Cable It's what I used when I can manage to get frikken XSplit working.

I would be up for a race of any kind, Pokémon or not. Especially since I have a capture thing installed on my 3DS. However, I am busy on pretty much every Sunday. And if we're starting March 2nd, I guess I have to sit out. But I am all for a racing thread of some kind.

well, are we going to be doing it all in one sitting and at the same time? couldn't we just have some kinda deadline system saying play one or two hours each... lets say half week, then we all upload our videos and compare how far we've each gotten.

Oh man, I love races. Count me in, though yeah I'm gonna have to echo the "when?" part because I might not actually be able to be counted in. If I'm in I can do video though.

Can we not do this? Races are more fun when they're actually races, by which I mean everybody participating at the same time and able to talk to each other and stuff. I mean if somebody WANTS to do this on their own there's no stopping them, but I think it would be a lot more fun to at least have most people racing together.

Also, someone said earlier that even if we all do it at the same time, we don't all have to do it in one sitting.

Years ago, TLs4 organized a SMW race (I can't remember if it was all exits or just all castles). I think we had about half of the people do it live and half of the people submit their video runs beforehand if they couldn't make it at the actual time.

It was all exits. I got super unofficial second because Viddler stopped recording somewhere around halfway through and I was paused for a while trying to fix that issue. On the note of "other races", I'd be down for MMX/X2 any/100%. I'm still working on getting consistent with both, but that's what competition is for.

Looks like quite a few people are interested, based on that poll. I know it goes until the end of the day today, but I remember someone (Sept?) mentioned starting tomorrow, and that's soon enough that we should probably start talking about some specifics like what time it should happen or what exactly we will be racing.
