It was a story Arc where Carnage takes over a town in Colorado, and runs it like a president (By that I mean he infects everyone with his Symbiote).

No. That's like asking if a fairy tale is a comic book.

I did a SMALL bit of looking around to see if there are any non-fiction books, especially WW2 stuff, but it seems the characters were usually fictional.

I do think SOMEBODY out there will have made a non-fiction comic book, but for now it is definitely not majority and I can find no evidence of any.

Comic books can contain real people (like Obama appearing in Spider-Man), but it's still a fictional story even if it's based off real events.

Hm, so I would take it that Logicomix: An Epic Search for Truth, Guy DeLisle's Jerusalem and Ottaviani and Myrick's Feynman do not count as comic books, because they are non-fictional whereas Tintin counts as a comic? And what about Alan Moore's From Hell?

Note: Of the above mentioned, I only own Jerusalem and about four Tintin comics.

I totally got my free comics today! I'm glad to finally have an explanation for why Venom is with the Guardians of the Galaxy now. I may have also gotten suckered in to buying some cheap trades too including some classic Thor stories, some of Joss Whedon's Astonishing X-Men and a post Civil War Moon Knight trade. Gotta love local comic shops. I need to stop spending so much money on a day about free comics...

As I mentioned a couple times in the movie thread, TASM2 left me really disappointed and now I want something Spider-Man that's actually GOOD so I've been looking into buying some comics.
I'm considering buying this right now cause I've heard good things about the Ultimate Spider-Man series.
I mean, I could also just download the series and read that, and I don't know. I might just do that instead cause I don't know if I'm interested in shelling out a ton of money and spending time and effort searching the best way to buy the series and whatnot.

Although I haven't got some at home, I used to read Iron Man and Fantastic Four comics when I visited my cousin. It was actually pretty neat, but I don't think I'll buy some.

Personally, I love Bendis' writing and Ultimate Spider-Man is no exception; I would definitely recommend it. Alternatively, you could pick up the best-selling comic since 1999.
