TV Shows are a thing, why not have a thread where we talk about ones that go beyond being mediocre; those rare shows that could be considered "pretty okay, I guess".
So, yeah, put them things you watch here, if you peel like it you could even give a little review or something.
Here's a little format thing that you can use if you want
<Show Title> <Number of seasons> <Number of episodes> [episode duration] [genre]
<start year> <completed | continuing | cancelled <as of year> [and uncancelled <as of year>] | due to be cancelled>
[short description of the show]
<required>[optional] "due to be canceled" is for shows that won't return after the end of this season
I'll start
Burn Notice 7s 112e 42minutes
2007 completed
Some guy is a spy for the US government, but then he gets fired because he was framed for being a bad guy. So he gets sent back to Florida where he and his friends that just happen to be there take odd jobs. Also Bruce Campbell is there.

I like the shows where the main character is the least component person at what they do, but we have to take them seriously because the laws of probability and physics change whenever it's convenient for them.
Breaking Bad and Arrested Development are my two favorite shows ever, the former being the best drama and the latter being the best comedy. I have never seen a show that comes very close to me liking it as much as those two. Most people will agree Breaking Bad is pretty good, and I think that the humor in Arrested Development and everything it does is just so brilliant and no other comedy comes even close to it. It's just so rewatchable because of how versatile it can be and how densely packed with jokes it is. I have no lie probably watched it like 4 or 5 times by now, and I still feel like I often get something new out of an episode when I watch it again.
My second favorite comedy show I've seen so far is The Office (British version). It's just awesome, I mean come on. Although personally I didn't like the two Christmas specials they made as much as the other episodes at all. I like the show better if it just ends at the Season 2 finale.
Twin Peaks is an awesome show. I love the first season; it's masterfully made. The second season drops in quality and has some pretty bad writing at times, but it's still just so enthralling for whatever reason (acting and crazy plot I guess) and I still really enjoyed watching it.
Apparently The Wire is supposed to be a good show, so I started watching it, but eh it doesn't completely keep my interest for whatever reason. I think I've seen four or five episodes, I forget which. There's lots of good stuff about it, but it's hard for me to keep watching. I want more out of it.
Oh yeah also I watched the entirety of The Ali G Show recently too. I've seen Borat and Bruno and yeah they're good movies, but this is a lot better, I think. I love it, it's just awesome. I never realized how brilliant Sacha Baren Cohen is before watching it. Check it out; it's on youtube.
I'm currently watching Dexter because my mom started watching it, and I know the first four seasons are supposed to be good. I'm five episodes in, and I'm definitely enjoying myself. Although I think the scriptwriting and lots of acting is bad. Thankfully, Dexter's acting is good. The plots keeping this one afloat.
Peep Show
8 series of 6 episodes each (48 episodes total)
Will finish after Series 9 (late 2014)
Far and away my favourite comedy series and the only one I can rewatch and still laugh out loud at and not just chuckle. Follows Mark (David Mitchell) & Jeremy (Robert Webb), two flatmates in England, as they deal with life. Mark works at JLB Credit, is riddled with insecurities and doubts, and is as straight-laced as someone from a generation or two before him. Jeremy doesn't work and is completely deluded about the quality of the music he makes with his friend Super Hans (Matt King). The gimmick of the show is that every single shot is from someone's POV, and when the shot is from Mark or Jeremy's POV you can hear their thoughts as a voiceover. It's hilarious.
Is that the show where they talk about tricking the thermostat by cranking it so it's like "oh crap you want me to go that high? Better go fast" and then you turn it back down last second?
I just finished watching My Name is Earl on Netflix and now I realized that I don't have anything else to watch. I've ended up watching Mythbusters and it's good, but it's not the kinda thing I usually watch that and someone let an orangutan with ADD organize the episodes are organized into "collections" that don't make any sense and jump all the fuck around in the seasons.

It get's slightly less mediocre later on.

I've been watching through Community. Currently on the last few episodes of Season 4.
Also started American Horror Story yesterday. I never really read up on it on Netflix nor do I know anything about it but it seemed alright from the episode I've seen so far. I don't know much about the horror genre so I don't know if the whole "oh look that was weird for the sake of it being weird" thing is an accepted trope or if it'll make sense at some point or if there's a deeper meaning or what but whatever, I was entertained enough while watching the one episode.

Season 2 of House of Cards has been a pleasant surprise so far. It started off kinda weird, but now it's getting really good. I'm glad it seems they made an improvement over season 1!
Bwarch wrote:Did they uh... ever wrap up that cliffhanger at the end of season 1? I mean, dang, what a way to end the season and never even mention it again.
Excuse me if I'm confusing something here,
but isn't that wrapped right at the start of season 2?
Hmmm. I watched via Netflix and from what I'm hearing they have a habit of skipping openings for customer satisfaction, apparently they're putting select accounts into test groups to see how it goes. In cases like this it can be a major problem though.
Noted, thanks fellas. It was REALLY WEIRD to just never find out about that cliffhanger, haha.
And as expected you and I are completely right! It did skip the opening, and now I know what the heck happened, nice!
There was apparently a line that would have made it clear that climbing along the cliff was his only option but it got cut for time. If you've gotta cut something though it really shouldn't have been that. Season 24 is easily the worst season.
Oh, yeah. I finished Season 3 of American Horror Story.
The show pretty good in S1, then S2 it got weird and a lot of stuff wasn't explained by the end, and S3 was just mediocre at best. It's just a bunch of teenage girls fighting. They even had a stupid scene where zombies came and the one girl (Zoe) fought them off with a chainsaw. Like, they did the thing where the chainsaw just cuts heads off like butter, and then they even did the shot where the person cuts straight down vertically, splitting it down the middle while the 2 halves kinda bend out. That was basically the breaking point for me where I was like "yeah this is getting dumb."

Series 2 of the reboot. Absolutely insufferable. Or the Specials between Series 4 and 5 - the only watchable one of those was Waters of Mars (which, okay, was actually pretty good).
(Also, I legitimately liked both Paradise Towers and Delta and the Bannermen so there. And Dragonfire was pretty okay, but gets bonus points for both introducing Ace and bringing back Glitz)
Yeah, but if you're cherrypicking best episodes, Series 2 had The Impossible Planet and The Satan Pit. In any case, I was limiting myself to the classic series in my condemnation of 24. I single out 24 as the worst rather than 22 because a) I hate Mel and b) Colin Baker can make bad material work and Sylvester McCoy can't, which in my opinion is the best judge of a good actor. Out of all the actors to play the role, I think Hartnell, Troughton, both Bakers and Eccleston were the best at making bad scripts watchable. McGann & Smith to a lesser extent. It doesn't matter so much when you have good scripts, like Pertwee had for the most part, and McCoy did for 25 & 26, but when you have consistently bad scripts (like Colin did) it really makes a difference. Of course it only makes a difference when a good actor's on screen (see: The Twin Dilemma being unwatchable whenever Colin's not on). Unrelated to Doctor Who, but related to the point, the most common praise I seem to hear for Patrick Stewart is that he can make anything watchable and compelling. I'm kind of rambling now.
