InvisibleSandwich's very general thread

Post by InvisibleSandwich »

I've got multiple things I'm interested in using Talkhaus to share when it comes to the arts. My current plan is to start with music and possibly move onto other things later.

Currently, most of what I've been doing is in Famitracker, which is increasingly popular for its ability to simulate various iterations of the NES's sound hardware. My choice of expansion chip is the Konami VRC6, which adds a degree of flexibility without entirely negating the point of using limited hardware. My compositional style tends to be hyperactive and dense with varying levels of references to extreme metal even when it's upbeat.

In rough order of mood, from euphoric to aggressive:
LEDWorld
Striking Magma
Attribute Clash
Return of the Killbots
My channel has significantly more in this vein, as well as some older content done in Sibelius that isn't as developed, but might become historically relevant if I become commercially successful.

To round things off, here is what (as far as I know) is currently the only piece of Game Grumps ambient music/soundscape on Youtube.
Jon Jafari's Nightmare
I did this one very quickly and spontaneously compared to the others, basically as an experiment with a genre I'd never tried before that. The people who should be watching raocow lovelies who've stumbled onto it seem to like it. I probably should do something similar for raocow (and could, given how much he talks about destroying the world), but I'd need inspiration to strike to get any real motivation.

I released some more music in recent aeons. The same order of mood applies - the first one here would probably be in the middle (or more accurately, all over the place), and the second one is definitely at the very bottom.

Obsolete on Arrival
Gangrene Spires

I should compose faster, but for that I need motivation, and that's usually going into my writing at this point.

I have no idea how I didn't comment on this thread the first time I saw it, but your tracks are pretty awesome, man. Especially loving the darker ones. You should consider joining an indie project with music like that, it'd make for awesome never-before-heard boss music (especially Gangrene Spires)

I love Attribute Clash. It's a classic hyped up 8-bit theme! I'm not super huge into the darker stuff, but that's just not really my genre, it's not to say they're bad by any means.

Obligatory note about how the Talkhaus malfunction wiped out a few months of discussion. Since the cutoff point, I made myself a Soundcloud on the advice of Talkhaus members, and started doing a lot of stuff in OpenMPT. My Soundcloud is basically an 'imperfect' mirror of my Youtube page that also contains a few scraps of older things and experimental tracks.

Notably, I remade a few tracks that I'd originally posted in this thread - here's handy links to the remakes of "LEDWorld" and "Gangrene Spires". I found a set of samples and plugins that gave me a much better guitar sound than what I was able to make back in my (now primordial) Sibelius days, and things just kind of spiraled out from there.

P.S: I'm using one of my recent tracks in the ongoing MaGLX contest, but for secrecy's sake, you'll have to wait until raocow plays it (alternatively, not quite as long if you're a judge).

Aaaa I just saw raocow's video of him playing your level and I was like "Hmm, InvisibleSandwich, I remember that name from somewhere... and that music style, too!"
Now that it's aired, can we have a link to the track, too? Sadly, it wasn't that audible over raocow's usual... chatter.
