What's that game? (A game recollection thread)

So I've noticed a bunch of threads in various sites where people discuss games they remember playing but can't remember the name, and get answers from other people who know the game . I thought it was pretty interesting, and kind of funny how there wasn't a similar thread in the talkhaus. And so, here we are.

I'll start off with a platformer/exploration game I remember playing on the NES many years ago, about a guy progressing from a house(I think) to a number of caves(I remember there being huge skulls that served as gateways to other rooms) and the final level being a ship. The dude has to rescue other people(his family, maybe?) including kids, while staying away from a bigger dude who looks like a policeman.

I've looked high and low on the net for the game, but I couldn't find it. Does anyone here have a clue?

The game is clearly Super Mario Bros/Duck Hunt for the Atari Amiga CD32.

Oh! I've got one. It was a game for the original xbox, a first-person game. I remember it was making a big splash before release because everyone said it was the game that would make first-person shooters big in Japan.

It was released and quickly forgotten, though. All I remember was that in the tutorial, you throw up a hamburger. And you can do crazy kicks and stuff.
