After taking five months away from YouTube to recharge my batteries, I've returned to doing LPs of the Marios, only now without the rampant tool abuse that plagued my earlier efforts.

The hack is Super Mario Bros 4: Mystery of the Five Stones by Lexator, and proceeds to expose me as a Canadian who is NOT fluent in French (by the way, I also DON'T live in an igloo, thanks for asking...).

I know I've still got a ways to go in SMB4, but I want to give viewers the chance to choose my next hack to play. So I've gone and picked 5 complete hacks, and peeps will have until I post saying "voting closed" to choose the one they want to see me do.

Your choices are:

1 - Mario Gives Up 1 by cyphurmur - Truth be told, the thought of doing one of cyphur's hacks without tools worries me a little, because his hacks tend to be a little more challenging, but not as much as, say, Anikiti would be (I'll be leaving those to aterraformer).

2 - Super Mario World: The After Years by EvilGuy0613 - I made it a point to pick hacks that I would be able to play blind, and this is definitely one that I haven't seen much of on the YouTubes. The screenshots on Central do look awesome though.

3 - SMW 2012: Master Hand's Doomsday by Roberto zampari - Same song, second verse. Besides, now that our supposed doomsday has passed, why not save the Mushroom Kingdom from theirs?

4 - Super Mario World Master Quest 8: The Final Quest by Alex No - I've thoroughly enjoyed playing the Master Quest series (1 and 6 are complete on my channel, 5 is incomplete on Game Anyone, and 7 is incomplete on my channel), but I never got around to playing the final installment in the series.

5 - The New Mario World by OnlineVideoSurfer - This is the "What The Hell Am I Thinking?" choice. I played this hack way back in the Fall of 2009, and OVS actually updated his hack based on what he saw in my LP. Three-and-a-half years later, and now I'm prepared to go through this again. If this hack is chosen, I will be using tools to some extent (up to and including blatant abuse) as this hack is much more challenging than the others, and I don't have the time or patience to record for hours just to get one video of footage.

Voting is open to both Talkhaus peeps, who may vote in this thread, or YouTube peeps who don't wish to join Talkhaus by sending a PM to my YouTube channel. Voting will close the day I begin recording of the next project - which could be at any time since I usually do batch recordings a couple times a week, even though I only post one video a day.

Super Mario Bros 4 is complete. Because of the timing of my recording sessions, I've recorded some filler videos for the next three days - a side project to be titled Random Weekend (not to be confused with rao's Random Week). In Random Weekend, I attempt Kaizo-style hacks without tools in an attempt to see how far I can get. No editing. No gimmicks. Just 20 minutes of failure.

A full length hack that actually starts off somewhat non-linear. While this would technically be a re-play, I never actually finished the first playthrough.

The story is a bit of a sequel to the original SMW. While Mario and Yoshi were leaving the Dinosaur Land, their ship was attacked by Bowser and the princess was taken in the process. Now Mario and Yoshi have two ways to reach Bowser's castle, they can go through the regular way beating all the koopalings one by one or they can find the hidden stars in a mysterious land called the "land of magic" which will take them to Bowser's castle. It's up to you to chose which way they should go, considering the former is easier but longer and the later is shorter but harder, or you can also mix both ways.

5 - Mario's Search for the 8 Jewels by Mawwo7
There's no description for this one, but it's made by the same person who made Mario's Treasure Hunt 1 and 2. Screenshots look pretty good too.

Master Quest 8 is the (supposedly) final installment in Alex No's SMW Master Quest series. Don't let the title fool you though; as it stands only 5 of the 8 are readily available (unless someone has 2, 3, and 4 and just aren't willing to share - if you are, hook me up will ya!). What does become apparent though, is that Alex went balls to the wall on this one, so let's hope his efforts were worth it.
