Oh man. Bootleg games! This brings back happy memories of Vietnamese Pokemon Crystal. All the volcano bakemeats up in that game. Best translation ever, 10/10.

I think the worst bootleg game I ever played was basically Mario 1 except Mario was Pikachu, goombas were still a thing and there were no powerups ever. It was on the gameboy colour and came with actual colours, though, so still a step up from Red & Blue. (I'm assuming that was bootlegged. Given Pokemon's attitude to merchandising, it may well have been an actual spin off. I can't remember the actual name of the thing.)

I do very much hope this week becomes Super Ethnic Bootleg World power hour. That would be amazing.

I think the main bootleg I'll never forget would be Sonic 3D Blast 5 for the Game Boy. You will not find better music in a video game.

Also this can be the time to point out that my signature is from a bootleg. I just find these knock-offs hilarious in a way.

Aw, how could I forget Crazy Bus? That's like the epiphany of cacophony there.

I just find it hilarious how bootleggers tend to try their best to either copy the music in a game they're trying to copy or just create their own "music" while still using the basic instruments for the system, ending in what can be described as either a bunch of animals being tortured or a fax machine about to explode.

The general awfulness of pirated games is mainly why I like them so much. Another one of my favorites would probably be Super Mario 3 Special. A majority of YONG YONG games are just plain terrible, as well as just about every foreign Pokemon pirate.

Coincidentally, I had that one on cartridge once upon a time. I was something like 7 years old at the time, and that combined with the utterly atrocious physics meant I never even finished the first act. The music sounded marginally better on actual hardware, though that might just be memory speaking.

Kart Fighter is one I've been meaning to try, since it looks decent enough and it's one of the few times I've seen where Toad looks like he can put up a fight. Also, tiny Bowser.

raocow has only seemed to do fighting games on camera while making some kind of announcement or just talking about a thing, kind of like what he does when he draws (unless I'm forgetting something). I don't know if he'd have enough to talk about during a normal LP of it, unless he quit a few minutes in and either make a short video or include something else.

But I'd actually love to see him play it.
