Wii U comes out soon

Post by Ashan »

Anyone planning on getting it?

I'll probably get it once it's been out for a while and there's some games worth getting, but I won't be getting it on launch. It really hasn't blown me away or anything. It just looks like Nintendo's attempt to jump back on the older audience (*cough *ZombiU *cough*), so I really don't see a point in getting it this early on.

Plus, if it goes anything like the 3DS' launch it will just be us sitting there with our Wii U's waiting for games to come out.
But at least there's a Mario title in the launch lineup this time. The first-party titles on the 3DS launch were terrible. Pilotwings, Nintendogs, and Steel Diver.

So, yeah. Anyone here actually hyped in the least?

Not right away (not a lot of extra cash around), but the system has more than enough of the games I liked on the Wii to jump on board with it. I don't think there are any games that are going to blow anyone away, but it's a solid lineup. NSMB Wii U is the one I really want since the one on the Wii was one of my favorite games of last gen.

I'll wait until I see some games that interest me, or a price cut.

no

although I have been dropping very strong hints to my little brothers. My wii's disc drive is in the middle of a very prolonged suicide so I'm in the market for a new one

My Wii decided to stop working a year or so ago. It just decided to not turn on one day.

I was easily able to get a second-hand one, but still. The amount of money I spent on VC games was probably worth more than the Wii itself. I really wish they implemented a cloud system there.

Yeah, I had to repurchase Mega Man 9 and 10 after a Wii stopped working (well, it still turned on and all; it just didn't read discs). This is why I hate download-only games. I had the same thing happen with two I got on a PC, those were twice the price, and at least one of them no longer has that version available. Seriously, screw downloadable games, unless they give you some way to get them back if they are lost for one reason or another (such as hardware failure).

I'm getting a WiiU sometime or other JUST because of the Rayman sequel. That alone is a console seller, in my opinion.

Yea, I’m getting the pro package as well.
Mario WiiU, Bayonetta 2, Pikmin 3, Rayman legends, Wonderful 101, and the promise of a new Smash Bros at some point make this a must buy for me, if not at launch date, then soon after.
Nintendoland looks fun too, it will have to do for now, considering I’m blowing all my free cash on this thing.

Also, to add to the "my Wii is broken" discussion; I have two Wiis, one that plays games, and one to watch my netflix on (one of em has a busted disc drive, the other one has a wonky internet connection)

guys

My Wii stopped reading discs a few months ago, and I sent it in for repairs for less than the price of a new one, and had it back within a week. And thankfully, no data was lost even though it was possible that it'd be the case. Did no one else try calling Nintendo support?

As for the WiiU, it's something that I'm remaining 'cautiously optimistic' about- I want to wait and see how it turns out and see what games are good before I'd consider getting one. I actually don't even have a 3DS yet because it didn't seem like there were a whole lot of good games, though I do aim to get one soon, because now there are definitely a few...

I think the 3DS has plenty of good games if you're into the Japanese stuff. Even Square (KH3D, Theatrhythm) and Capcom (RE: Revelaitons Revelations) are games that are doing well. I guess the thing is that it doesn't have anything that the DS really didn't outside of Super Mario 3D Land and Kid Icarus: Uprising.

I did phone them and all that, but I really don't know if it's fix-able any more. I'm pretty sure it's a problem with the flash drive, because a lot of the time it would just give me a black when I tried opening a game or turn it on.

Then again, I guess it would be worth a shot, but I don't know. If they're not able to fix it, it might just be a waste of time and money.

I've been able to contain and reduce my excitement until now, but with all the news about it from IGN yesterday, I am now feeling the buzz. I cannot wait for Sunday.

I'm just glad the release date is AFTER all my major university projects.
