I got the permission so, there you go:
A while ago people participated in the "Make A Good Level"-Contest and we planned to put every level into a single romhack. It seems to be a good time to start on the work if anyone is interested.
Now I'd like to know if anyone is interested, who wants to help and what they want to do. (for example: overworld, level editing, ASM-hacking, organizer, ...)
There will be a lot of resource conflicts, for example TomPhanto's level because of the ASMT sprites, but we'll deal with that later, once everyone is in.
Also, how about everyone confirms that he/she wants his/her level inserted so we don't have to work on levels which noone really cares about?

Re: "Make A Good Level" Collaboration Hack
- I thought of the overworld to be somewhat linear but with some exceptions for special levels in terms of difficulty and design. Or we could make every level playable from the start.
- For myself I planned to design parts (or all if no one wants to) of the overworld and organize stuff on the forums, maybe some level editing.
- I was expecting something like 5 to 8 people, but we probably won't get more than 3 people after all, considering the activity around here.
- The hack is supposed to be some kind of convenient collection of levels by Talkhaus users. It's just an easier method to play the levels as you don't have to patch every .ips and play them all seperate, so it'll probably only be released on the forums, which on the second thought wont have that much use if you consider the amount of work to do...
- Then I'll have to do it myself if it's an rather simple task, but for stuff like ASM hacks I would really need to find somebody or else abort the project.
- I hope that it will turn out compatible for both Snes9x and ZSNES which will probably be kinda difficult as far as I know. (ASM hacks or music can sometimes screw up on Snes9x, right?)
So anyway: it doesn't matter that much if the project doesn't get started. I just thought it'd be nice to have something like that, but if there's no activity we can close this thread without hesitation.

Re: "Make A Good Level" Collaboration Hack
Well, I'd be more than happy to have my level in it. Although since apparently my level isn't very good, I don't know if you guys would want it in there. That's completely fine with me if that's the case.
I'd be delighted to help, but I'm not very experienced with this stuff or anything, so I think it may be best if I weren't involved. I dunno.

I guess you could be allowed to improve the level design-wise without actually changing the theme.
Don't know, first we gotta find some more peeps I guess...

Personally, I think it would be a good idea to clean stuff up. That would give everybody more than enough reason to download the collaboration hack instead of just grabbing a pack of all the levels.
And really, why not? The quality of the hacks for the contest is preserved in LP format, and if they want to play the originals there's always my pack which is (hidden) on the thread. If anybody is going to spend time on this project, you might as well make it good and get rid of mistakes, right? Why work on and come out with a faulty product?

Re: "Make A Good Level" Collaboration Hack
I agree on that, why make all the effort to combine the levels if somebody might aswell patch everything in 5 minutes; and after all we will have to change some aspects of the level because some GFX or ASM wouldn't work if used by two levels at the same time.Bwarch wrote:That would give everybody more than enough reason to download the collaboration hack instead of just grabbing a pack of all the levels.
Or you guys discuss/vote if you want to have them unaltered or improved, your choice.
