To add to this, waris isn't related to wademo. She's just a random cyclops who grew out of a rejected experimental formula (kind of like a fungus) and just sort of wanders around bumping into things and trying to prove to everyone that she deserves to be a protagonist too. She likes to hang around wademo for unknown reasons, and has an aversion to salmon.
The first thing I thought of was making them imperfect, mass-produced clones of Demo and Iris -- you'd go through an abandoned, overgrown laboratory with some of them floating in tanks in the background, etc. and then the level would end with a dual battle with one of both.
So with these new backstories in mind, perhaps Wademo is just cloning herself and
Waris is an imperfect clone?
EDIT: Except you outright said she's not related to wademo. Pay attention, Rocky!
