Re: What the Hell? (public release like it was no thing)
I usually aren't that big of a fan of hard hacks, but from what I've seen of TLs4's official LP, this seems interesting and original enough that I'll most likely give it a try after ASMT is done.

Re: What the Hell? (public release like it was no thing)
I may not be the best Mario player ever, but since I like raocow plenty I decided to download this and try it out.
So far I have beaten the first level, and by beaten it I mean with extensive tooling. Something like 100 demos. I like it, but it's busting my balls!

Re: What the Hell? (public release like it was no thing)
I may be pretty much insane for doing this, but TLs4's LP resparked my interest in this hack, so I'm gonna try it despite how insanely difficult it is. Don't be suprised if I never come on again, that'll mean I probably broke the laptop.
Edit: Getting to Sand Forest Theater quicker then I expected like it was no thing.

Well, I have no idea how to bring the P-Switch back to the midpoint in Sand Forest Theatre. This is an amazing hack so far, I love the music choices, but I can't recognize that underground type song. It sounds so Earthbound-like...

it is a semi-pipe maze. some pipes are red-herrings that send you backward (or in this case, forward towards where you first found the p-switch)randoguy101 wrote:Well, I have no idea how to bring the P-Switch back to the midpoint in Sand Forest Theatre. just try play around with all the pipes in that you come across and do trial and error.
also the music list is on page15 of this same thread.
i have a sudden urge to continue my savestateless run video, but that still depends on if i have enough free time to do so.

Re: What the Hell? (public release like it was no thing)
Ah, I skipped a pipe that let me keep the P-Switch longer the first time, thanks.
I've honestly never played any Crash games. I heard they were pretty damn good, I might play one later.

Wow, someone ALREADY tried to submit this to SMWCentral. You'd think they'd know SMWC doen't accept "hard hacks", AND to have consulted you first...

:(
Though someone already said he stopped because of the difficulty in the kaizo thread, haha! Man, I... I don,t think it's THAT hard !! (okay some parts are)

Re: What the Hell? (public release like it was no thing)
If I can beat the first world (never bothered playing on for some reason) it is not to hard.
Re: What the Hell? (public release like it was no thing)
AND according to the description, he tried to claim it was his own. Moron.randoguy101 wrote:Wow, someone ALREADY tried to submit this to SMWCentral. You'd think they'd know SMWC doen't accept "hard hacks", AND to have consulted you first...

1-3 spoilers
http://www.youtube.com/watch_private?v= ... CVZ1Hz1q1Q
weird, i didnt find this the first time(s) i played through the map, but it was so obvious when i tried it today.
when i look back at the video, it seemed like this was purposeful? also the only real obstacle between the two points are the 2 disco koopas and the side-track 'get the shell and mushroom to continue' thing

Re: What the Hell? (public release like it was no thing)
You know what, because of the extreme out of place difficulty of that level, I'm going to leave it there for observant people.

Re: What the Hell? (public release like it was no thing)
hard as hell but very fun, great job.
Also, no offense, but compared to your other sprite graphics, big boo looks kind of Janky.

What the Hell_00026.png
Discounting the dolphin portions in stage two, the third stage is the first REALLY HARD area in the game! But I love that song!
I hate you all.
Re: What the Hell? (public release like it was no thing)
honestly, 1-3 map1 basically scarred me with the song.
now whenever i hear that music or replay 1-3 map1, i just get a sudden rush (from deaths)

Re: What the Hell? (public release like it was no thing)
Honestly raocow? I got to the second level (not counting the intro) And seriously after looking at your levels with lunar magic (i know, shame on me), i have to say that I am not looking forward to playing these... I just find it ironic that you yourself said that you won't play kaizo-ish levels ever, yet you make this, it's a pain in the ass!
Aside from all that, good job!

Re: What the Hell? (public release like it was no thing)
He has a double personality.
As a hacker he is the evil scientist who tries to invent the most devilish constructions to harm the player.
As a LPer he is the friendly neighbour who always (tries to) look for positive things and happiness and stuff.
That or making kaizo-ish levels are simply easier to make.

Re: What the Hell? (public release like it was no thing)
I'm basically trying to find the sweet spot of 'very hard but fair and fun', though I sometimes cross the line. The problem, if it is one, is that I keep ALL my experiment, even the failed ones.
