Alright, so Leaf Storm is not suffering, Water Palace is suffering because of the water, Mirage Road is suffering because of the autoscrollers (why did DIMPS decide to put autoscrollers in a Sonic game?!)... what new ways will this casino-looking level find to be suffering?

I also realized something that's now bothering me.

Can you trick while grinding?

Ethno Circus had to grow on me. Back 2 Back was an instant hit, but I think most of the others just grabbed me right away, which is just part of the Naganuma style I guess.

And on the note of Ethno Circus in particular, one of the SiivaGunner artists mashed it up with Mambo No. 5 and I Got a Girl and I think it's one of the better things the channel has done. Also good: the single rip of I'm A Spy, the theme from Security Hall.

I kinda like how Tail's is showing up so much that youtube is automatically registering Sonic Rush as Sonic and Tails.

After having watched the video, I’m not so sure that’s true.

Best song tomorrow!

Boosting is cool until it isn't. It's fun, but it's also a Dimps game, so it can be the pits sometime. I remember the carnival and one other level being pretty annoying with them and small platform jumps.

imo you only actually want to boost a lot in this game once you know the levels

I understand this is the opposite of what many have been saying, but I think my reason should be obvious. I do also recall sonic rush adventure improving in that avenue, though it's been a while.

It's a question of how you approach the game as a player. I'd personally rather die a few times rather than not be BOOSTIN', because BOOSTIN' is so much fun that it outweighs the sting of the death by a lot, for me. Also, I'm not LPing, if I have to replay the level due to a Game Over, whatever; second time is easier anyway, because now I do know the level, and I'm never not boosting, so I have fun both the first and the second time.

At some point you also get a bit of a DIMPS sense with these, you start to be able to predict when they want you to go fast and when they want you to do instant death-punished platforming.

Since you were asking about the video format...

To be completely honest, so far my favorite one has been the one with the thick grey border between the two vertical screens, but that's only because I realized that if I played the video on my phone, it looked damn near how it did when I played it on my DS way back when.

The side-by-side format isn't too bad. You do kind of lose track of Sonic from time to time when he switches between the two. Though, for Special Stages and Boss Fights, it's not an issue at all since Sonic's limited to only one screen.

If you are going to keep the side-by-side format, do you mind an additional request? Since the screen is going to be a ton bigger than it would be on the actual DS, would you mind trying the game with the Internal Resolution increased? The 2D graphics look fine at a higher video resolution, but the 3D models look a bit blurry in comparison. Increasing the Internal Resolution would sharpen up the 3D models a bit, and if I'm remembering the next parts of the game, there's going to be a lot more 3D on-screen soon than there usually is.

I like the horizontal video. It's a little disorienting when Sonic switches between screens, but that's fairly rare in this game and it's worth it for the bigger and better video. I think a small, black border would help mitigate that, but I'm not sure if it's possible to have a border in that orientation.

sonic has entered INTERNATIONAL INCIDENT ZONE act 1

i personally think the game should be played vertically, but rotated 90 degrees, like with rhythm heaven or hotel dusk.
call me reecer6, not reecer7, please! gotta maintain that same internet brand. actually i'm cro-iba now, it's cooler

it's such a minor thing but I really dislike how when you jump on an enemy sonic leaves his curled up spinning animation and just starts hovering thru the air bouncing off further enemies with his lazily extended feet

Got the same opinion. It's a little disorienting, but the video isn't that much harder to follow with the dual screens being horizontal instead of vertical now. The big gray bar was easily the worst. This setup might work against you tomorrow, though.

I don't think that crisis was very huge, but it's a fun level minus the whole crushers deal. Also, you're learning that when there's danger around like that or potential pits ahead to not boost. That's the way to play!

I like the vertical setup with the thin bar the best so far. You mentioned in Night Carnival that you’d been recommended to try the thick gray bar but with a black bar, and I agree with at least giving that a try.

Oh, and uh. You can’t escape her.

So we got a mashing segment in this boss fight. Is that comfortable to do? Like, do you think you could mash like that for a long period without hurting your wrist? No particular reason, just curious.
