La-Mulana 2 - fish. it is a fish. it's true.

this is the place where lps are being talked about. it's important to talk about games being played on the internet.

Fobos hasn't emailed about the shop in the Guidance Gate being open by now. raocow would very much appreciate having the Codices.

I think that message comes sometime after three guardians have been defeated. Not positive though.

I managed to finish La-Mulana 2 last night, and so spent all of today marathoning the LP to catch up! You would think spending 105 hours on this game would make me exhausted of it, but this LP has been a lot of fun to watch. raocow's route through the game has been about as different as possible to my own, as has his reaction to various puzzles and midbosses (For reference, I did all of Icefire Treetop before even finding Annwfn). Some like the glove I figured out immediately, while others like the entrance to Gate of the Dead stymied me so much I had to draw my one and only outside hint to find, well after I had done just about everything possible without it. Looking forward to seeing raocow continue to conquer this game in his own idiosyncratic way.

The Rapier was honestly one of my favorite weapons for some reason. I think I just liked its simplicity, plus it does seem to have a slightly longer reach than the whip.

-----

Of course, those who have played and remember the Vajra item probably know why I loved the Rapier so much. That attack speed is no joke. Hopefully raocow will come to a similar conclusion once he finds that too.

Anyone wanna take bets on how many more episodes before he finds the Mantra App? he's been so close so many times but always misses the room. I figured we'd see it when he fought Nidhogg to go for Grapple Claw, but then he found the other way around to it so now I have no idea.

I legit think he's gonna get walled before thinking of going back there.

I think there's reasonable likelihood he actually finds Mantra as soon as he goes back to Icefire Treetop. He'll likely find the map that time, and realize there's a whole section in the upper right he can't access now, and from that guess that going through Nidhogg is the way to that part. And as soon as he approaches Nidhogg, he'll see Mantra on the way. Could be as soon as tomorrow.

This is one of the biggest design flaws of the game in my opinion. I recall when I first played through it I ended nearly every session feeling much the same, even if I could tell logically that I accomplished plenty. (That and consistently ending my play sessions feeling frustrated and exhausted which isn't a good sign. You should be having fun playing games, not getting exhausted from them.)

18:07 in the video today is my friend's kickstarter skeleton! It also contains a reference that nobody's ever gotten to this day, because Nigoro took it upon themselves to editorialize it, presumably due to containing 'broken english'.

What we got:
"When you stop to think about it, Heaven's just a place without any actual ground... Scary."

The original quote as submitted:
"Heaven is a very sky place dangerous."

there were no instadeath traps today. only dragons and ice

the in-universe way to get into the eternal prison is so funny to me because it basically treats the blood corridor as a cheat you -have- to use to solve a paradox

I'm amused that you decided to show your misses in the winning fight against Nidhogg, but it really highlights how tedious that strat was.

I thought the Grapple Claw was fun to use in this game, especially in the icicles room. It just feels so satisfying to move fast with it. Unlike the nightmare version in La-Mulana MSX where it only seems to work half the time.

If you hadn't found the backdoor entrance to the Ice side, defeating Nidhogg is what's supposed to get you the Grapple Claw. It's nice that there are two ways to get it, but it does mean you ended up with the less exciting outcome for defeating him.

That bird sure has beautiful feet.
