La-Mulana 2 - fish. it is a fish. it's true.

this is the place where lps are being talked about. it's important to talk about games being played on the internet.

Gun is definitely not cheating, it's a great way to move through troublesome boss phases at the cost of the bullets being very expensive. Plus like you said, it's Hard Mode!

Congrats on butting heads with a bull for an hour and coming out on top eventually.

Fully support the use of the gun, who cares if it's "cheap". Pretty clutch (or lucky?) victory with only 1 HP left.

Also, it's a bit unfortunate that glossary entries can spoil the in-game appearance of bosses.

Kujata is definitely one of the tougher bosses. No shame in using the gun - I abused the hell out of it against a later (fairly brutal) boss,

Echidna

, and I felt zero remorse.

In this episode, we meet THE FRIEND! Dancing orange friend...

Mulbruk didn't go explore Annwfn because

you've already done what she would have told you about in previous episodes; the main purpose of that expedition is to tell you how to get to the right side of the area from the Roots. That being said, this does mean you don't get to see her dangling upside-down from one of Ixtab's knots.

It increasingly annoys me that this game uses the singular form, "Álfr", to refer to the race as a whole, rather that the plural, "Álfar". Particularly since they don't call the the Vanir the "Vanr" or Æsir the "áss"/"ǫ́ss". Or the Modern Humans the "Modern Human". Maybe all the gratuitous USA references in the game have got them taking the phrase "E pluribus unum" a bit too literally.

In episode 8 right before 11 minutes in when raocow said "let's struggle" I felt that.

I gotta say La Mulana 2 looks like a worthy follow up to the original, I actually feel kind of bad I'm not playing it right now! Digging the whole ride so far!!!! Mulbruk's new urban chic fashion sense and speech manner is pretty cool. Keep reading it in Yuffie's english KH1 and FF7AC voice or Misato Katsuragi's japanese voice, personally. I guess I just have different vibes of maturity for a character like her depending on culture (I guess she could pass off from fashion-conscious girl in her late teens to "gyaru in her early 20s"). rao's rage at Kujata was pretty funny too and probably a highlight of the LP.

anyway eloquence over back to drive by shitposting

The room with all of those crushing pillars is a really mean trap - even if you see that you needed the Gale Fibula to run through it, there's no way to know that you still wouldn't make it without jumping first.

Really smart strategy to bring the healing fairy with you to the Ratatoskr fight, though you dodged its attacks pretty well anyway.

I'm sad to admit that both the puzzle for the Chain Whip and how to actually get it eluded me for literal hours, and I didn't get it until much later.

Voltgloss question:

So how do you unlock the Garb chests without being a Kickstarter backer? I backed the game at a high level and had all the keys ahead of time. I think I recall them saying there was a way to get keys. Do you get them for beating the game or is there some other way to get them mid-playthrough?

You get the keys for accomplishing certain Steam achievements. Realistically though, you're almost certainly only going to get one of the four (if that) before your first time completing the game. The achievements in question are:

- visit Nebur's store 40 times
- get all items
- complete the glossary
- finish the game

i wanna answer this one since i happened to be reading up on it earlier today

there's 4 specific achievements that give you a garb chest key each, and even on the drm-free version from playism hitting the means by which you'd get those achievements on the steam version still gives you the keys.

for anyone who wants to know the specifics, i'll put them in a second ispoiler:

●visit Nebur's store 40 times
●get all items (aside from anhk jewels)
●beat the game
●complete the glossary (aside from main characters entry 19)

are there seriously

no situations where you can get locked out of an optional item by fucking up a puzzle? i get that people don't like that but i dunno, i like that specific way of toying with the player

honestly it's absolutely the kind of thing you'd expect from an 80s pc game or famicom game, which is precisely what the la mulanas are trying to ape

specifically the msx and maze of galious, which im sure is easier though haha. need to play it :c
the knife does also remind me a lot of castle excellent or castlequest (not the bbc micro game) which was available on the famicom and several pcs including the msx

shades of spelunker and by extension montezuma's revenge too, spelunker also being on the msx and having a cult classic port to the famicom

None in this game. The closest it gets is having a small section become permanently inaccessible very late in the endgame, which can conceivably lock you out finding a glossary entry and completing an optional sidequest (the reward for which sidequest is knowledge, which knowledge you really no longer need if you're that late into the endgame anyway).

If that happened to me... I would probably decide I wanted to replay the entire game up to that point to get another shot at the item, but then a year later realize I hadn't played since then.

I'm not sure I'd even get mad at the game, it'd just automatically recategorize into the "chores" part of my brain.

After reading that sign that basically said "the exit leads straight off a cliff" I would have been disappointed if raocow didn't fall off.

I was partly expecting the door to place you already midair
