Considering where Chernobyl is. It could also be how actual Eastern Europe is.

It bears stating after G-Man's moment that "unforeseen consequences" was the name of the chapter in Half-Life 1 where the resonance cascade happened.
Well it is a decent hack but sometime its just too repetitif there no level that actually pop in your face and your like oh yeah that level they all ressemble themselves and just monster along the way.

Open wide field with bushes and rocks, driving wildly, finding weapons and supplies in buildings

Now just replace mines dropped from the helicopter with people and this would look just like PUBG

Could grenades, in this Let's Play, be an example of dramatic irony?

Well, that's Car 2, I guess. Gotta say, doesn't hold a candle to Car 1, let alone Boat.

Car 2 is totally better than Car 1. >:c

It can drive in water, doesn't get stuck as easily, and has Alyx in it.

boat is totally the best though, even if it does make me a bit motion sick

So, this all happened. Worth noting that if you looked at all the big monitors when Alyx relays her message, the G-Man appears.

The Borealis is interesting. There are suggestions that the Borealis is based on the so-called "Philadelphia Experiment," an elaborate hoax in which a destroyer during World War II (the USS Eldridge) supposedly underwent an experiment at the Philadelphia Shipyard to make it completely invisible to the naked eye and radar, and simply phased out of (and back into) our normal existence, taking some of the drydock with it. (A more plausible explanation is that a different boat, the USS Engstrom, was a testbed for a degausser, which allowed it to demagnetize the hull and prevent mines from attaching to it.) The Borealis did something similar...which is why it's embedded into a rock.

Sadly raocow missed one of the funniest scenes in the game, so check a look if you haven't played before:

Players: The Aperture Borealis? At this time of year, at this time of day, in this part of the region, localized entirely within these coordinates?

Valve: Yes!

Players: May we see it?

Yeah this part is... like that. I think the second time I played it it was a lot less stressful from the first time, but still.

It's telling that the parts you like the least are the ones I love watching the most. Wonderful performance!

Sooooo...the one bit at the very beginning of this video? That's in reference to something you can do at the start of Half-Life

before you get your HEV suit

, where there's a casserole in the staff room microwave you can overheat and explode.

Petty grudges among physicists run deeeeep, man.

Since Half-Life 2, these games have been trying to emphasize using explosives and other non-conventional weaponry on larger enemies. Hunters are included in this. But you've generally opted to go your own way with bullets the whole time, and this definitely affected this.

Ah, so you're saying the problem is that Half Life 2 doesn't have a minigun. Got it.
