I guess a Dune-themed parody of Toto's Africa was just too obvious a joke.

It's never explicitly required, but you can do things faster with motion controls. You can't roll or climb full speed without motion controls, and I think you couldn't do certain hat throws without them either.

i am aware, i am aware

it's just that i dont think it's possible to do the motions in regular handheld due to the joycons being stuck to the console
i could do it if the joycons were out and i used the handheld as a portable screen but i literally couldn't be arsed

which is pretty hilarious if you think of the little grip thingy for the joycons because it still registers but its impossible to do anything with it lmao

You can do the motions, it's just stupid and awkward because you're whipping around the screen that you're trying to look at. You can do directional throws with motion controls, there's the orbital throw you do by whipping the controller like you're throwing it like a frisbee, and there's also the homing Cappy attack that's very useful but can only be done with motion controls.

Injured myself at work for the first time in over a year and a half. Cut the crap out of my thumb, apparently when you cut copper pipe it's somewhat sharp, so don't cut copper pipe and then ram it into your thumb. It kind of hurts :ehh:

poor awoo :( hope it heals up fast, thankfully copper is generally hypoallergenic and antimicrobial, so you should be at minimal risk for infection or the like, just keep the cut clean and treated!

today I got very little done :reimuko:

So how about that new Paper Mario!

I'm carefully optimistic. I really hope Nintendo took some notes from their mistakes on the last few games. At the very least I'm digging the darker tone. Not quite sure what's going on with that battle system but I'd like to see more of it in action before passing judgement. And honestly, it can't be worse than having to carry around a whole book full of pictures of a shoe.

According to the official site, the combat system involves rotating concentric rings around a battle field in order to line up enemies to efficiently deal damage, requiring "puzzle-solving skills".

As usual, the game looks nice, but I'm also cautiously optimistic. I've been waiting a long time to play a Paper Mario game that doesn't feel like work.

I think "cautiously optimistic" is the slogan of the trailer at the moment.

Personally, I love what I'm seeing, but I'm obviously still a little skeptical after the last two games. The fact that there are characters besides just Toads to interact with this time around is already a selling point, and the battle system looks like it could be super interesting. I kind of wish people wouldn't immediately dismiss it and shit all over it based on one short reveal trailer (there are a few of these floating around Twitter), because this could potentially be what us fans have been waiting for for the past 16 years.

Do any of the SMWC peeps have a link to when/why FuSoYa said they're not going to release the LM source code? A cursory google search leads to a relatively late page in the LM Suggestions thread that just says "he said already why he's not going to do it"

From what I recall he won't actually even explain why he doesn't want to open source it for some reason. And at this point any discussion about open sourcing it gets shut down immediately by Fusoya and the admins.
