I spent a bunch of time disassembling my DSi since the shoulder buttons haven't worked for years (but will start working again temporarily if I use the classic blow-into-them trick) to see if a bit of alcohol would clean them out enough to work again. It's not too difficult to get into it but it is a real hassle to get the last ribbon cable back in, and after all of that it did nothing. I can't even find anything about replacing them, and it's possible one or both of them is a single component that contains the card reader as well.

I replaced my OG 3DS shoulder buttons somewhat recently and it was a couple simple ribbon cable swaps but it seems like it might be more of an issue with the DSi.
