Peach's Memory - Memorabilia

this is the place where lps are being talked about. it's important to talk about games being played on the internet.

rao's subconscious insisting on singular jumps is something I can't remember happening before this game. It's not even really happening in A Hat in Time.

The craziest thing to me is how raocow calls the other jumps, "special jumps" while I think most players, if they even the slightest doubt they won't make a jump, won't use simple jumps. Maybe it's how his brain is wired after so much SMW, but doing simple jumps often seems to me like the most dangerous option.

I blame crash 2. He's mentioned how that game teaches the player to jump with confidence, as a full regular jump will get you across almost any gap. This being mario 64 though, the platforms are not uniform distances apart and movement is fluid by comparison so you have to consider all your options, as well as the finer details of placement and execution to account for the physics.

The levels so far look like they're sectioned so that each star has its own dedicated area and self-contained challenges. Reminds me of Banjo-Kazooie a little bit.

...I know even less about SM64 hacks than I do about SMW hacks, so I've got nothing else to add. :c

I'm appreciating how this hack is making use of geometry that Mario can actually navigate and platform on; it stands in stark contrast to some other Mario 64 hacks, where the authors are so focused on making things look "aesthetically pleasing" that it becomes incredibly janky to actually play.

was about to come here and say this. yeah, the platforms we've seen so far have been very austere and square, and i think they could at least be a little more decorated than that, but at least they're playable! at least mario can actually grab onto the ledge like he's meant to. i'd take that way before the former.

Yes raocow, there are like

3 Stars per Cap Switch Stages

in this hack.
If you want to know more Stars ahead on, that is if you want to, use this program to view the stars in most SM64 Hacks.

The Wing Cap was and is the most generous Cap in the entire game (even in the standards of the original SM64). It lasts for about 60-75 seconds, while in some other hacks the Wing Cap's duration is reduced, which is rare at most.

The Metal Cap has no changes to the duration at all in most hacks.

As for the remaining Cap in the game, you just have to find out yourself.

Also, the Red Star from collecting the Silver Stars always spawns at where you collected the last Silver Star.

Your timing for that triple jump was the slightest bit off, and you walked a bit before the third jump, raocow, that's why you didn't fly. Happens to the best of us (the rest of us, tougher than leather.)

Ah yeah, the pile of skeletal bone graphic is almost realistic. Sorry you have to see them in your playthrough. Idr if there are more of these but I believe, this will be the only level you'll ever see them.

And that's right, the Vanish Cap's duration here is cut by half of the original SM64's duration (from 20 seconds to 10 seconds), so expect to be fast when you're going to encounter Vanish Cap-related Stars.

Yes, and you call it vermillion despite the fact that it is obviously cerulean.

It's such an awkward flow that when you get a secret star in a sublevel within a level you're booted back to the star selection screen for that level and then it boots you back to the specific point in the level where you went into the sublevel

Like, I guess that means you can switch which version of the level you're in from within the level by going into the secret area and getting a star

Looks like the back changed the transparency for the vanish cap.

Congrats on making halfway!!

Actually raocow, the Side Courses have more Stars (make that the exact same total of stars as the Main Courses) than the Cap Stages. I'll tell more specifics at the right time.

Also, you missed a Star in there.

Yeah, it's 7 separate stars, rather than 6+100 coins like the main ones.

also i had never considered doing the metal cap one that way, i seriously raced around the pond like a hundred times until i managed it and it was probably the hardest star in the game

i feel really silly now

I did the same thing that raocow did which I believed was faster than racing the Block Timer to the Star. The only problem with that Star was the confidence between jumps. I always overshot the jumps and may have misaligned my angles.
