Except that it acknowledges that such arcs are dorky af :D
I also see hints of the whole TCG craze thing in there
Also also, the platforming is smooth like butter, even with the weird moves

I'm more impressed that they put an entire table top game in the game.
Yeah, this more or less sums up my feeling on the Mighty Gunvolt series (the 8bit ones)... it just feels, really safe? IDK, Burst is well designed on its own right, but as you've said, it doesn't do enough to make you care about the game. It doesn't help the music is pretty boring remixes of the main Mighty No 9 game (and I heard that game features these exact remixes... which explains a lot).ano0maly wrote: ↑4 years ago Currently in the process of Mighty Gunvolt Burst run with second of the three characters (Beck), and I just feel... do I really wanna play this?
Other games I've played in past months felt engaging. There were characters where I cared about them and about what happens with them, or there were challenges and objectives I cared to beat. With MGB I just have a hard time really caring about the game. If I do decide to play it, it's kind of fun, but there isn't a strong sense of accomplishment at this point and it just doesn't do as good of a job making me want to keep going. Now that I've finished the game with one character (and got all the collectibles to find) this is weighing down on the game.
I do think it's better than Mighty No. 9, from what I've seen in the playthrough early this year. I'll probably finish the game with the two remaining characters eventually, but I feel like it would be in the backburner for some periods of times and not something I will continue playing w/o interruption. Should I bother with the 6 other DLC characters? The character packs are on Winter Sale right now...
Pretty much. All around, there's way more to the customization system than what's needed. For one thing, it's nice that you can save and store multiple configurations, but do you really need 40 slots? I guess it doesn't hurt to have them. I think the idea is that you can create multiple setups and swap among them for different stages/goals. So if you want a different style you just make another setup, instead of changing an existing one (which is what I did, I just had one setup for my main preferred options and another for the charged shot). You can also find stickers in the stages, which aside from just having a nice collection, are used specifically to give distinct labels for the setups.Arrietty wrote: ↑4 years ago
What did you think of the custom weapon system? Personally, I feel mixed on it. It's fun to come up with fun and creative configurations, but I also feel like I spend way too much time on it. Like... I dunno, maybe it feels too complex for a simpler Mega Man styled platformer? I'd probably praise the system much more if this was in a more complex action/platformer game. But alas, this game has it and doesn't give me a strong compelling reason to actually bother with it beyond "cool weapon configuration, bro".

You could try that super difficult pack RLCraft, which is just a huge modpack that makes the game a ton more difficult!Awoo wrote: ↑4 years ago I made a huge mistake and installed Minecraft with mods again, and it's been sucking up an unhealthy amount of what little free time I have. It's not even that great of a pack so I was considering installing a different one, but I'm not even sure which because they all have Thaumcraft and I absolutely hate that mod/pretty much all magic mods.

I tried Continuum but it was super frustrating how everything was super bottlenecked. I remember trying the "Beyond Reality" pack a while back and that was pretty interesting, along with some other 1.7 FtB pack I can't remember off the top of my head.Slimeman01 wrote: ↑4 years agoYou could try that super difficult pack RLCraft, which is just a huge modpack that makes the game a ton more difficult!Awoo wrote: ↑4 years ago I made a huge mistake and installed Minecraft with mods again, and it's been sucking up an unhealthy amount of what little free time I have.
