The only new game I've played lately is a little bit of that new Mario & Sonic Olympics game. It's okay, but the AI for soccer is still not good. Rugby Sevens remains the best thing about it to me. I'm more a fan of the winter ones anyway.

Decided to start up and tear my way through Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! lately. Had never really tried to play a Pokémon until this past weekend, so yeah, there's a first.

Have fun when you get to the various points of no return. I'd suggest having multiple save files if you're not using them already. It can be easy to softlock yourself into unwinnable battles at several points (though there aren't really any like that until the end of Chapter 2, to be fair)

Yeah I've heard about the game getting super mean so I've set up an extra save file like I do with SaGa.

All eight badges in Let's Go Pikachu! now. Guess it's on to the last bit either tonight or tomorrow and then the postgame if I feel up to it.

Nice! Only a bit more to go before you can catch that Two-the-Mew. Do you switch out pokemon frequently or have you built a team of sorts?

Pikachu, Blastoise, Arcanine, Graveler (no online to trade), Hypno, and whoever for the sixth which is now Articuno. Pretty much locked in on the first five right when I got them and never looked back since they cover just about every field. It's not like the game's hard thanks to that starter character being super strong.

For whatever reason I decided to buy a used copy of the tie in game for the first Micheal Bay Transformers movie. The decepticon version of the ds game. (They pulled a pokemon and released two versions of the game, an autobot one and a decepticon one.)

The game handles super clunky, and even with mapping certain actions to the touch screen, it doesn't seem like there's enough buttons for all the actions. I'm playing on a 3ds so I imagine it feels worse on the og system. The game is pretty ugly, buggy, and suffers from a short draw distance.

On the flipside being able to scan lots of different vehicles for a transformer alt mode is cool, and each vehicle gives you different stats in both vehicle and robot mode. More work went into the story and characters in the game than into most of the live action Transformers movies. The voice acting is surprisingly good, and helps give the small crew of genocidal lunatics personality. I hear the game was the main reason the character Barricade became popular, and got a larger role in the Transformers franchise as a whole.

Haven't beaten it yet, but so far neat video game, except for the part where it's a video game.

Been playing Hyper Light Drifter (first time, and I haven't seen raocow's playthrough so I'm going in blind). Progress-wise, I guess I've collected four of those shard things. Wow, this game really gives you no clear information on anything that's going on, and I kinda love it. It seems to be a pretty simple game at its core but the fact that not a single thing is named or adressed in text makes it super immersive. Maybe I would've appreciated to know right away that those chips I was getting were money, but it was kinda cool to discover that by myself too.

It feels pretty nice to play so far. Lots of directions to go right from the start. The combat's easy to learn and satisfying when you really get comfortable with the controls, and the abilities you can buy seem pretty neat from what I'm seeing. The multi-dash thingy in particular has been so fun to use in combat, to weave in and out of an enemy's range. The gun's not very useful to me for now, though I like the system of refilling ammo by slashing enemies as it encourages you to be agressive.

I appreciate that the lack of jump, replaced with a dash, gives the game a different spin on platforming, where you position yourself and aim well to cross gaps. Secret areas and paths are well-hidden but always subtly telegraphed which I also appreciate. Though I am a bit aggravated that there's so many areas I just can't get to at the moment, and I don't understand if it's an ability I'm missing or if I'm doing something wrong. I guess that's the nature of Metroidvanias, it's fine.

I've no idea what's going on with the story, like, I'm probably just dense but I can't glean any coherent information from any of the cutscenes or dialogues. My theory right now is that

me collecting and placing these shards is what's gonna bring about the apocalypse shown in the intro?

. Other than that, i'unno, there's warriors and monsters and stuff.

I hated Hyper Light Drifter for not explaining anything. I got completely lost and frustrated after a couple of hours when I first played it and haven't played it since with no desire to go back to it.

I get it, we all hate long boring tutorials that explain every little detail, but please at least give me an idea on where to go? It felt like no matter which direction I took I ran into a "you can't go here yet" gate. Breath of the Wild has almost no handholding either, but at least it gives you a direction.

Huh, really? I've had some moments of confusion but I haven't really hit a wall so far. Initially I went east of the town and found nothing, but exploring west has been smooth sailing. Like I said I've already gotten four of those crystal things, I'm very close to reaching the first boss, and I already have a couple other places to explore after that.

I hope I don't come across like I'm flexing to you, I'm just surprised our experiences were so different. How far did you get on your playthrough?

As said, not far at all. I wandered around aimlessly and every direction from town led to a dead end. And I hated the slow walking speed as well, made it all the more tedious to figure out where I was supposed to go.

I remember hitting a dead end on the west side too, but I forget what stopped me. It has been a while since I tried the game.

to be as spoiler-free as i can muster, from the central town you have three options you can play through to completion right from the start, but the game requires at least a degree of exploration to find some keys. it doesn't explain anything since, for the most part, there's very little to explain

Trying to do the Lost World in DKC2 is making me hate the game so I may just give up and move to DKC3.

It isn't the levels themselves, those are fine. It's the process of actually unlocking them. Kremcoin hunting isn't fun at all and it is just getting more and more frustrating as I progress through the worlds.

Captain K. Rool can throw his little party in Krocodile Kore. I am feeling done.

Made it to Chapter 5 in Yakuza Kiwami. I'm liking it a lot so far but I am wondering how long it is.

Picked up my Romancing SaGa 2 playthrough from forever ago and beat up Kzinssie and finally made it to Year 1001. At this rate I'll be old before I finish the game lol
In my TTYD replay, I just left Riverside Station. I remember the Smorg fight being rather hard but like every other memory of difficult things in this game that turns out to be not the case at all and it's just little kid me struggling at games.

I finished the first 6 worlds of Ring Fit Adventure. The game just keeps on getting more and more "RPG." Type advantages, consumable items, powerful attacks with long cooldowns, an "Elite Four" group of sorts, traditional boss fights, side quests, a skill tree, "metal slimes," and keep in mind that this game is Wii Fit 3. Nintendo really went all out with this one, and I honestly enjoy it a lot.
