Iconoclasts - I can't believe it. Humans are so flaky. I knew I should have asked the tengu about this instead.

Pontus is a good name.
This boss can be a nightmare if you forget that you can ground pound the top, which I did. And hey, welcome to shockwood! And welcome to ghosts as well! They kinda suck when you wanna actually do some platforming, because they don't leave you alone! I think you did the right thing getting the dodge roll, we'll see if you use it effectively.

I dunno, man, I like the captain. His defiance is rather refreshing! And he seemed less of an asshole than Elro in today's video.Grounder wrote: game doesn't let you drown the asshole captain

Over the course of the game, that trajectory sticks. Big time.
Also, the coordinates they reference point to somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean. Not at all relevant to the game, just something I found out for fun when I played this.
But yeah, in case the dialogue and the destroyed house wasn't clear: Elro's family is dead. The Penance killed them. Yeeeeeep
In that last bit...I don't actually remember how the hell that bit works.

Elro doesn't come across as an asshole in this video, just... aggressively protective, in a way protectees don't often appreciate.
His heart is in the right place, but his mind isn't doing him any favors.
Also what an odd way to do a pronoun joke. My tiny trans pea brain can't decide if I found it funny or not.

It's unfortunate just how much this changes for the worse. And how much less feasible it is to defend him.

I like it. It's funny without coming across as mean or gross.
I like Elro. I mean he sucks, but that's why I like him. He's written very deliberately, and Konjak did a good job with his character. It's the same thing with Chrome, who's a nice, polite, cordial man...who is also a high ranking general in a theocracy and fully believes in its doctrine.
Also give Elro a break for now, his family just died. He's not really in a good place I imagine.

Getting to play as Mina for a short stretch is a really good time. It's a nice "holy shitf moment, and she's very different from Robin mechanically. Of cpurse, she doesn't hav enough mechanics to carry a whole game, but she's not the protagonist so she doesn't have to.
Here's where the game takes off the gloves. You have a couple varied tools at your disposal, and the game wants you to make them interact with each other and the environment.

Re: Iconoclasts - It looks like there's a hole somewhere where we can go down.
It seems you missed it when it happened, so I'll point it out for the sake of saving time not launching ten thousand more hamburgers: The very first time one of those small turrets fired a bomb at you, it flashed the little green wrench icons and made the "you can counter me!" noise. Go figure what you can do with their projectiles. :V

I think the issue is that raocow followed the standard VG logic of "if it fires low, you must respond low." Which isn't implausible. The game never really points out that Robin's wrench covers a wide spread, so he just assumed parrying is impossible.

Re: Iconoclasts - Yah, an earth spider! We'll tear you to pieces!
I feel like this thread title is the one where the gimmick is really given away for the three people that haven't already figured it out.
This boss is fantastically chaotic and harried in a very orderly way. A controlled frenzy, if you will. I particularly like the active weaponization of a movement upgrade.
Side Quests list has been updated in the OP, by the way.

My thread title theme would've been
Sooooo, since this has been shown a couple times before but never fully explained in the game: Hearts on the map indicate locations of sidequest progress. Essentially you go there to continue an active sidequest.
Also, you now have access to fast travel! This allows you to actually explore the game a bit outside of the plot, contrary to what some people in the YouTube comments may think. So that way you can continue sidequests, try to grab stuff you think you can get now, etc.
I would recommend you do a sidequest video (or sidequest addendum to a video) at some point, perhaps when you get the next fast travel warp (though it may be a couple videos before we get to that point. Hard to tell, given the length of these)
Also, a weird thing about this video that probably shows an example of how the writing sometimes has weird inconsistencies: Gustavo gets formally introduced here with the introduction of fast travel. However, when we were in Isilugar, he gets named at some point. It's one of those times Konjak kind of forgot things and didn't have time to fix them until it was too late.

I know a lot of people already have seen iconoclasts here, but those that haven't and wanted to see all of that conversation without searching for it, there it is.
For video reference, this is about the conversation at 14:20
Mina: "What is this place?"
Elro: "I have no idea. I work at One Concern HQ, which is in the mountains. I barely known anything about THAT complex."
Mina: "What's your assigned job, then?"
Elro: "I'm a Chemist... I'm good, too."
Mina: "I wouldn't expect you to be the type of guy that's real skilled after being forced to do the job."
Elro: "I just happened to enjoy the science of it. But you don't get to go beyond your assignment. I just get to be some guy in the Concern, doing absolutely nothing of his own. The Concern killed our father. It's all just wrong... Do... 'pirate' assign jobs?"
Mina: "We have to fill the jobs that need to be done. We're very few, so it's to help the people."
Elro: "So you don't get to pick either, then."
Mina: "It's different!" *All shaky text*
*End Conversation*

Re: Iconoclasts - If you start saying that, then everyone's a believer in *something*.
There is a little bit more to my thread gimmick than that, to be fair!
My favorite part of the today's video was the half-progression through the wall tunnel at 16:15, followed by immediately turning around and leaving for no reason and never going back there again, not even during the search for where to go next near the end of the video. Splendifferous.

Wow, leave it to raocow to skip one of the most important dialogues in the story. That conversation that Elro and Mina had drops a very very important plot point that helps expain a lot of other things...
But yeah, a lot of plot gets brought out in this tower. We've already revealed a lot of details (the global Ivory shortage, the kids in the tower and what they're supposed to be about, the Bastion soldiers being separate from the Concern soldiers and their rivalry, etc.). Sadly, you skipped probably the biggest one on accident there.
On the other hand, good on you to figure out the samurai dude first try. I remember A Raving Loon taking 5 or 6 tries with that boss, all the while complaining.

Ya, I think I'll unspoiler it. Also I'm sure raocow will come along in here and glance over it. And ya, that boss is tricky. It's a counter based boss, and trying to attack at all will be met with unavoidable damage. By design, ya gotta play by the 'Silver Watchman's' rules.thatguyif wrote: ↑4 years ago Wow, leave it to raocow to skip one of the most important dialogues in the story. (And at this point I'm ready to say "Screw leet" and just post it unspoiled.)

Also in case raocow missed it the samurai is who is talked about at 9:00, and who is seen flashing about for the next following minute
