This game is not easy but raocow has 100% harder stuff in the past. Have some faith in him, will you all.

do you really have to one-life a level in crash 1 in order to get the all-boxes gem? I know in later games you can do it even if you die, and I think it works like that for the remake as well?
just a little confused

the thing with raocow is that if he gets enough fan support to 100% it he will do it despite not having fun with it and i don't want him to come out of this game feeling like shit

I have faith. I don't want him to 100% it because no one deserves to 100% this game. The quality goes downhill if you do.

EDIT: Sorry if I'm being too protective, I just want this LP to go well orz

So far my verdict is that the first Crash seems to really be a better experience when played on the remake, whereas the other two are enjoyable just fine on the original trilogy. There's a number of things the sequels did well and that's why the remake normalized the trilogy to make the first more like the other two.

That level was pretty long

I feel like no one is adressing the elephant in the room. Why does Crash need to bite into the apple? The guy is 60% mouth, he should be able to just gobble it up.

If I may be pedantic for am minute, N. Sane Trilogy is a remaster, not a remake.

It's a remake branded as a remastering.

It's in a different engine, has different physics, and improves on the original in some ways such as saving.

Vicarious Visions called it "remaster plus" which is in-between. They took the levels from the original games as blueprints and remade them from scratch, instead of just porting them over and applying reskins and enhancements. Despite their saying that they don't consider it a remake, it's basically a type of a remake that tries to be faithful to the original content and mostly retains the level designs of the original games.

all the boXes in one run without dying... im having desunoya nightmares with the stars.
im gonna assume that there are even harder levels with getting all the boXes are outright hard but not as hard as the desunoya ones.

there's two in particular that are notorious for this, and the best part is that they have color gems so you even have to one-shot them in the remake where you normally wouldn't have to

I utterly despised this level as a kid. I only beat it a single time, which coincidentally happened to be the one time I actually finished the game too.

Cortex Power might be one of the worst offenders to 100% in this game, with its maze-like structure and large amount of backtracking in a game with no camera control.

It's already bad enough in the remake, which saves your crate progress up to the midpoints.

Mentioning this because I think raocow brought up Distorted Travesty more than once when talking about a game doing far jumps better than close jumps: the first two DT games stopped having the old floaty physics since the big update in mid-2016. The physics are now more like how the third game is.

I observed today how some of the level segments divided by checkpoints are really short. There was not much left between the last checkpoint of the level today and the goal. Of course, that doesn't help if you're going for the gem. I also forgot that you start with two Aku Aku masks in a boss fight, quite generous.

I also think raocow shouldn't refer to gems as crystals since the sequels have actual crystals separate from the gems, and the distinction matters in the story.

Depth perception is definitely a thing in this game. Truth be told, there are a lot of rough patches in this first entry, so I'm glad they were able to make some better ones down the road.
