First game is so brutal about getting 100% in certain levels. Even the opening stage with the box bridge is kind of tough for a new player.

couldn't agree more with this. maybe once i get income i can throw a dollar a month rao's way and suggest j&d for the next round (if there's another round of pat votes)

if you're fast enough to make it to the box bridge with invincibility remaining, you can actually run across it and break them as you go, but the window is super tight and you're also likely to miss the bridge since you have to go to the side to hit a box and make it appear

Funny you mention the bonus stage music feels out of place, because it was one of the few tracks replaced in the Japanese version. Personally, I prefer the original one.

An 11th hour decision made by the Sony people in Japan. They felt that the boss rounds needed to sound more 'video game-like'. The only reference they gave was music from the Main Street Electrical Parade at Disneyland. I only had a day or so to write all those themes. My favorite comment was about the original Tawna bonus round music. It roughly translated into 'the sound of the guitar mixed with the tree imagery is too nostalgic-sounding'. I’m still scratching my head on that one.

Resigning myself to the fact that rao is going to need the game to beat it into his head how not worth it 100% is.

Hog Wild feels blind even if it isn't, combine that with the finicky drum bouncing, and it makes for a level I don't like very much.

Maybe we could just

tell him the 100% password so he can also see the alternate ending in the last video.

Based on my gut feeling and vague memory, I think

the boulder chase levels are just as hard in Crash 2, but the ride levels are more manageable?

All the discussions about the Crash trilogy got me interested in checking out the N. Sane remakes, and I'm honestly impressed and had fun watching some videos of it. Despite the hitbox issue, the remakes have significant QoL improvements and new features - some of them are backporting things from the sequels to the first, and from Warped to the first two.

You also have the option of playing most of the levels as Coco, Crash's younger sister.

I remember Hog Wild being a major thing in the Remastered version thanks to the timing being off on the poles near the end. Made some jumps way more difficult. Don't remember it being as much of a deal in the original version outside of learning the timing, so yeah, that was a pretty accurate showing today!

If you put a real world map in front of raocow, with a small spot unlabeled, but needed to be filled, he will find whatever that is, no matter how hard or how long it'll take. raocow WILL find El Dorado.

They look like they could be either apples or peaches, but they make such a sharp, crunchy bite sound that they can't be anything but apples. If your peach sounds that snappy, something's wrong with it.

I've always felt that they sound like they're "juiced up" whenever you collect them. I find peaches way more juicier than apples.

Man. This might be some Yanny/Laurel shit, because to me it sounds like a quintessential "apple bite" stock sound effect, all crunch no juice. I'll have to try and see if I can flip it in my head during the next video.

...This isn't a derail, it's very important that we get to the bottom of this.
