I mean the first third of it is literally just Gang-Plank Galleon, which is already one of the best DKC tracks if not SNES tracks ever

I never noticed until this LP that the underwater ship levels have a startlingly 3D element to the background.
Well it is a decent hack but sometime its just too repetitif there no level that actually pop in your face and your like oh yeah that level they all ressemble themselves and just monster along the way.

I like Rattly more than Winky just because Winky's landing/pouncing hitbox feels so awkward to me, whereas Rattly's is very easy to get used to with his body being so thin.

The "O" in Kannon's Klaim is
hidden slightly off-screen to the left right before you ascend up to the checkpoint. It will appear on screen if you hop off the first barrel-shooting enemy's projectile instead of rushing passed him right away.

Rattly also has the benefit of an airjump if you fall off a platform which I don't think Winky can do.

Kannon's Klaim is such a great level, from music to actually fun barrel cannons (you never ever have to wait for a single bee cycle!), and I love replaying it, but good Lord the DK coin placement is stupid.

Also, I too can never find the O. Bad secrets! Bad!

I'm wondering if the bonus cannon stopped flashing not because of a time limit but because the effect despawned after it got even a little bit offscreen.

Oh...raocow jumping on on the cave entrance at the start of Hot Head Hop only to completely ignore the hidden treasure chest there was distressing.

That said, I always loved the mine song as well. I used to hum along to the choral part as a child. Still do, really.

I just checked (on real hardware if that matters). There's no no "timer" to the cannons, he just despawned the cannon and it reset.

Heh. raocow's bit about the official soundtrack release missing "Mining Melancholy" is just... it's such a uniquely "Nintendo" problem. Even to this day, they have this total aversion to releasing their games' *entire* soundtracks -- which are usually *massive*, and *very good*, at that -- and instead release "sound samplers", leaving it up to dedicated fans to eventually rip the music themselves. Rather annoying, that.

Man, raocow's decisions are really baffle me. He gets to the end of the level and remembers that the DK coin is still missing. So rather than just beat the level and then enter it again to start his search, he jumps down to the very bottom and plays the whole thing over again. I guess he thought he thought the coin was right near the end, under the goal?

If you beat the level you can then start-select your way out of it at any point.

diddy may as well not even be in his own game

same will go for kiddy in dkc3

kiddy was so superfluous, cranky and funky were playable in freeze and not him

I've never played this (shameful, I know), and so have a question: is there any benefit to using Diddy instead of Dixie other than "he holds things in front of him rather than overhead?" (I'm thinking here of a unique character ability like Dixie's glide twirl or Donkey Kong's ground pound in DKC1; or a subtle difference like Donkey Kong's having just slightly more vertical reach in DKC1)

I find he’s a bit easier to do roll-jumps over pits with, but otherwise, Dixie all the way.

I'm not sure in which ways exactly but other than Dixie's helicopter Diddy seems to be more agile and quicker to respond. There's a noticeable difference in responsiveness when you pick things up.

Diddy rolling into enemies also feels safer than Dixie twirling into them but I don't know if there's any actual difference behind that feeling.
