All the S@nics - the end
Re: All The S@nics - 2 (8-bit) - Mastering Second Gear
Of course; it’s your LP, you should go with whichever way you feel is the right way to handle it. Just figured I’d throw in my two cents is all.

I mean, the next most sensible option in my opinion is to just keep on doing it zone-based since there's literally only one zone where it'll result in a longer than average video at worst anyways but sure do whatever you want, just don't be surprised when you get the same comments you did at the start of sonic 1, shrug
i've honestly never played a video game in my life

shirtless eggman is kind of adorable but then again i just think every fat man is adorable unless the artist goes out of their way to make them ugly

Fun Sonic Facts!
At the end of Acts 1 and 2, a panel is spun, which signals the end of the Act and provides a reward based upon the picture it ends on, which itself depends upon the player's performance:
Dr. Robotnik: no prize. This panel comes up when no other panels are qualified for, which is most of the time.
Ring: Ten rings are added to the player's ring tally. This is obtained by finishing the Act with a ring count in a multiple of ten. Useless unless you get to the end with 90 rings.
Sonic: 1-up. This is awarded if the player finishes the Act with exactly two lives less than when they started it. A very strange and exacting level of mercy
Tails: Continue. This is awarded if the player finishes the act with 77 rings and with exactly the same number of lives as when they started it. If you need this, you won't get it, which seems counterproductive.

Bounce cloud! It's like
Shame that after this brief appearance, bounce cloud isn't in the game again.
Those hang gliders always threw me off as a kid. My siblings seemed to not have any real trouble with them, but I couldn't really get the hang of it myself. Pun intended.
OWL CONTROL
, but it's just bounce cloud!Shame that after this brief appearance, bounce cloud isn't in the game again.
at least if I remember correctly, it's been like 10 years since I last played through this.

today, raocow gives us a preview of sonic boom rise of lyric, by screaming "bounce cloud" every 5 seconds

Oddly, this game seems a lot less well designed than its predecessor.
Re: All The S@nics - 2 (8-bit) - Mastering Second Gear
Slightly interesting boss with multiple phases. And Robotnik doesn't show up at all! A first!

The only cool thing about Sky High Zone is its name.

Someone build a time machine and go back in time to buy instant oatmeal packets and send them to raocow.

Re: All The S@nics - 2 (8-bit) - Mastering Second Gear
sky high zone is a really comfy stage with its atmosphere and soundtrack but the hang gliders and clouds and act 2 are also absolute bullshit
also that turtle enemy is a blatant reference to gamera.
there's also a little hidden 1up if you go all the way to the left in the springs section near the west side of the map. hop over the 1up (don't break it) and yellow birds will hop out of the trees. no explanation. i like it.

this is not the only gamera reference we'll be seeing in the game gear sonics and a certain megadrive sonic boss may have been influenced by mechagodzilla as well

Re: All The S@nics - 2 (8-bit) - Mastering Second Gear
Interesting note: If raocow had continued playing only one act per video we would only just now be making it out of sonic 1 genesis
Well it is a decent hack but sometime its just too repetitif there no level that actually pop in your face and your like oh yeah that level they all ressemble themselves and just monster along the way.

I can’t believe there are actual zones after the first one. You mean to tell me you’re not underground the entire time? There are bosses other than the antlion?! Mindblowing.

Re: All The S@nics - 2 (8-bit) - Mastering Second Gear
This is the funnest fact so far. I played this Sonic 2 as a kid (as well as the genesis sonic 2) and had absolutely no idea there were other possible rewards. I probably got the ring once or twice when I wasn't paying attention, but I'm pretty sure I never got the others--and I was semi-confident there was no bonus to be had in this game. Neat, and also very specific.Heavy Sigh wrote: ↑4 years ago Fun Sonic Facts!

Re: All The S@nics - 2 (8-bit) - Mastering Second Gear
After nearly ten years Darwin the hang glider returns to raocow's LPs.
Speaking of which, hang glider mastery is not the only thing Sonic has a lot in common with Runman.
Both run fast, both are good sportsmen with up beat, friendly, competitive attitudes, and both were banned from BBC airwaves from 1993-1995 over controversial remarks made about then prime minister John Major.
Coincidence, or shocking dual identity?
