Re: Star Fox (SNES)
i'm actually acquaintances with the guy who commissions a lot of lewd pictures of falco (and sometimes fox) as a giant
i'd show this lp to him but i dont want to cross talkhaus with the absurdist art movement spearheaded by one man that is macro falco

Re: Star Fox (SNES)
The cover art on the cartridge combined with the game over screen of this game scared the hell out of me as a kid and caused me to almost never play it. I don't think I ever made it past the second level.

Re: Star Fox (SNES) - ATTENTION ALL PLANETS OF THE SOLAR FEDERATION
Woah, that was unexpected.
My first console was... a TurboGrafx-16. but I consider the N64 to be the console I grew up with. My dad rented Starfox 64, and that was my intro to the series.
I didn't experience this game until the SNES Classic. I mean, I did try years ago in ZSNES, when I was a teenager. But the game didn't run well, and Starfox is NOT a game you can get away with using keyboard.
I played the easy path over and over, until I got a perfect score on almost every level (maybe 5 times total?). Then I tried the medium difficulty path.
I was promptly destroyed by the 2nd level. I never even tried the Hard path. Then the rest of my time went into Starfox 2.
Looking forward to this LP, a very nice surprise. Will you be doing all the paths and levels, including the hidden ones?

Those are amazing. If these were hacked into the game, I can't decide who would replace who.Piesonscreations wrote: ↑4 years ago raocow's rambling are basically the star fox noises, so i had to make these.
Would Demo=Fox, and raocow=Peppy? Or should raocow=Fox, and Demo=Falco.
Whatever would be decided, we also need sprites of Sheath and Kood to replace the other pilots.
I don't know who should replace General Pepper, but the Key Boss should replace Andross.

Re: Star Fox (SNES) - ATTENTION ALL PLANETS OF THE SOLAR FEDERATION
After thinking about it further:
Demo = Fox
Sheath = Falco
Kood = Slippy
raocow = Peppy
*or*
raocow = Fox
Demo = Falco
Sheath = Slippy
Kood = Peppy
Either way, Marisa = General Pepper, and Key Boss = Andross
Demo = Fox
Sheath = Falco
Kood = Slippy
raocow = Peppy

Sheath = Slippy
Kood = Peppy

aww ♡ ♡ thank you thank you⚟ ´-・ᴗ・-`
oh also for peeps who know abouts the snes and stuff▸▸ like how is this done⚊ is this really real 3D on the special chip‽‽ like is it like a DOOM- sorta thing, or actual 3D˭̡̞# because i'm all sorts of confused how this works o(≧▽≦)o
Re: Star Fox (SNES) - ATTENTION ALL PLANETS OF THE SOLAR FEDERATION
Yes. The Super FX chip (there was also a FX2) allowed actual 3d polygons on the SNES. The chip was built into specific late SNES cartridges. Not pseudo-3D like Doom, or the mode 7 the SNES can do on it's own.
Fun fact: Mario 64 started development on the SNES, before moving to the Ultra 64.

Re: Star Fox (SNES) - ATTENTION ALL PLANETS OF THE SOLAR FEDERATION
yeah. it was about as expected as me getting the LP thread first post.
which was a horrible mistake by the way, given I'm 200-some odd youtube videos backlogged on my watch later list (I only just today watched the last Mega Man 11 episode). But hey, raocow playing Star Fox? I can't pass that up.

Re: Star Fox (SNES) - ATTENTION ALL PLANETS OF THE SOLAR FEDERATION
few people already answered, but I'll leave this here too (also has interesting info on the game itself too)
Re: Star Fox (SNES) - ATTENTION ALL PLANETS OF THE SOLAR FEDERATION
I liked the part where the B button was referred to as "Jump" during the setup. Even when not playing Mario, raocow is still a Mario player.
Not sure what was meant by "quote unquote platforming" though. I'd guess it has something to do with dealing with terrain rather than with enemies?

I never owned a Star Fox game. I remember renting this once, and recall a final boss fight, but have no idea if I actually "completed" the game. Looking forward to this.

Re: Star Fox (SNES) - ATTENTION ALL PLANETS OF THE SOLAR FEDERATION
This is a bit of a pleasant surprise. When it comes to Star Fox I'm mostly nostalgic for Star Fox 64, but I'll certainly watch the predecessor to one of my all time favourite video games. Maybe I'll actually play it myself. I've played it once before on the SNES classic, but then I got distracted by Star Fox 2 and never came back to it. In any case I foresee myself enjoying the upcoming videos of this game.

The fact that you could slap extra stuff into a cartridge to boost the console is super cool.Sebby19 wrote: Yes. The Super FX chip (there was also a FX2) allowed actual 3d polygons on the SNES. The chip was built into specific late SNES cartridges.
It's not necessary any more with all the bells and whistles you can cram into a machine now.
I remember that there were GBA games with gyroscopes and rumble packs. I'm certain there was even one with a solar panel.
