Re: The Twitter Thread or Something
I watched Star Wars episode 3 for my second time ever last night (I had only seen the prequels once each up until then) and like, every time I watch these movies I cannot for the life of me figure out who the target audience is. I never watched these movies as a kid, it wasn't until my mid teens I got into Star Wars, but I know people around my age tend to like the prequels cause they were coming out when we were little. But to this day those people still like them, and I'm curious if they're just saying that cause they remember liking them as a kid. That is to say, I want to know if they've watched them again since getting older.
The jokes seem like they're targeted to 5-year-olds. It's stuff like R2D2 making his dumb screaming noise every 5 seconds, or Jarjar stepping in poop. But then the overarching plot of these movies is incredibly boring political discourse that no kid would understand. Plenty of scenes that are people sitting in chairs or walking in a straight line while talking about their next political move. I can't imagine any kid would enjoy this stuff, they just want to see people swinging around their laser swords and doing flips.
And then there's weird things that are fanservicey to the point where it feels like bad fanfiction. Apparently Yoda and Chewbacca used to be good friends back before the original trilogy? I thought Chewbacca was just a random bear man that hung out with Han Solo. But now they're saying he used to be a fairly significant figure in the past wars too and nobody ever mentioned that in the events of the original trilogy. Those characters don't even interact in the later films, they just happen to be connected to the new events unrelated to the previous ones. Chewbacca never mentions to Luke that he was friends with Yoda. This also goes for C3P0 and R2D2 who were apparently significant figures in the rise of Anakin, and then for unrelated reasons continue to be significant figures in the fight against him. Am I getting my "bad fanfiction" point across?

Re: Twitter线程或其他东西
I don't remember the last time I watched vanilla Episode 3. I've seen the Backstroke of the West far more times than any of the other prequels.
Here's a little backstory on the bootleg for anyone who's unfamiliar:
http://www.winterson.com/2009/01/episod ... redux.html
Backstroke of the West has some of the best dialogue ever. Many of the ridiculous lines have become inside jokes between me and people I know. One of the best things about it is that some years back a bunch of people decided to dub Episode 3 with the garbled machine-translated subtitles, and the result is nothing short of spectacular:
(except Yoda, easily the worst part of this dub)

Sony Vegas Pro 15 is $25 through Humble Bundle if you want it. It's normally priced at around $400, so yeah. 84% off there.

Be wary, it's not actually owned by Sony any more. I got a copy of Vegas Pro 14 and the thing crashes to the point where it's unusable. I think most people have moved away from Vegas in recent years
