Oh hey, this project.

I wanted to help out with as much as I could and make some levels for this, but ended up not doing any of that because i couldn't keep up with development when it moved to Discord. My involvement ended up being 1 level, tossing in a few OW music suggestions and testing a handful of levels 2 years ago *shrug*

Oh well.

ps if there's ever another jump project ping me, i'll see if i can help (provided i can try and keep up with what's going on)

Just popping my head out of the ground to comment on how that's a very good arrangement of the Wild Arms overworld music on the map.

¿What's the difference 'tween "professionalism" & "quality" in this context? ¿Is professionalism just no swearing or sexy anime porn bonus levels, like in Panic in the Mushroom Kingdom?

It's refreshing to see the "Home Run Derby" level not be 'fraid to just let you bulldoze through everything like a Rambi level in DKC, since so many rom hacks get stuck in the mindset that the only way to measure a level's quality is how easy or hard it is for the player to die.

The 1 thing I would wish for to improve these JUMP games is that they have new enemy sprites. 1 o' the things that made the VIP games memorable were the crabs, the cat Cheep Cheeps, the weird poo-throwing dog Chucks, the truck-driving moles, & the masturbating wizards. ( Maybe this is where the excess professionalism comes in ). It would've been nice to see the ASMT enemy graphics, since it seems that that series has been replaced by the JUMP series, 'less I'm completely wrong.

The world map goofs are going strong still, now I do want to see the dimension of the burning sun.
Because Touhou OCs can in fact exist, sounds fake I know.

I can't change my username but I go by Vali/Claire now (aka call me Vali or Claire at your leisure ^^).

I never update this currently playing section anymore, it's probably an RPG or something.

Mostly the whole "we can't have anything that eschews game design conventions or any sort of amateur quality in this hack we have to treat it like a commercial game" thing. I see romhacking as game design anarchy, as long as its fun to play, anything should go tbh.

Wild ARMs is super into the wild west aesthetic mixed with a smidge of high fantasy, so it's really no surprise they would make an homage to such an iconic western in that way.

So I haven't actually watched either of the videos yet but what is up with the video name theme

Every summary I've read of Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs makes it sound like the exact type of anime this web sight and its denizens detest

raocow mentioned that this hack holds the record for most levels in a hack. I'm curious now, how many levels is that? And what'z the hack with the second most?

I can see how you'd get that impression but as the community's foremost "we're still working on it, really!" guy, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that we've got a new projected release window we're working toward for the A2XT2 devkit and it's relatively soon. Not gonna specify exactly when just yet, but we'll be clear about the release once we've gotten to the actual brink of it instead of just an apparent one. In the meantime y'all have both a level contest and this rad af behemoth of a hack.

Though on the topic of ASMT-related stuff in this hack, something cool has been brought to my attention and I'm very much looking forward to seeing it as well as raocow's reaction to it!

I believe it's 114 levels, with VLDC9 being in 2nd place with 107 or so.

i'm gonna hard "no" that if the best wiggler around is still just the glued-together sprite replacement of another enemy

i mean with all the stuff added in the newest versions i wouldn't be surprised at all if someone whipped up an actual wiggler npc but i've been heavily procrastinating with actually playing around with them

tho even then i don't really think it fits the current asmt sprite aesthetic, since it's improved a lot over time. that's not a deal breaker ( esp. since touching it up without smw's limitations would allow the mouth to light up and the minipumps to also get angry ) but if there's any interest in restarting the jump sprite replacement idea as sort of a post-release bonus patch i'd want to save 'em for that
