Mega Man - We're Here Forever!
Re: Mega Man ZX - There Can Be Only One
Area K is probably the worst area in the game, and to make it worse, you have to go back there for cleanup, while setting the slow lava again! (You didn't actually set the flow to "Slow" the first time, so you had to deal with the lava at full speed. The collectible for cleanup is IMPOSSIBLE if you don't set it to "Slow", so don't make this mistake again.)
Just as a note if you decide to do it, you can destroy those hookshot enemies by hitting the glowing red part. Overdrive HX slashes basically oneshot everything.
Just as a heads up, the last of the 8 Pseudoroid areas I would rank as second worst, but not because of any timed hazard gimmick. It DOES punish anyone trying to berserker rush through the level, though.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Items Obtained
Orange - Recovers 8 Life. There are a bunch more items like these in the game, and a good number of them are from NPCs. If you use it, you can go back to Max and get another for free.
W Tank - Recovers all Weapon Energy. This is the ONLY way to recover Weapon Energy on the fly in this game, so make sure to use it in a good place, or else you have to beat up Totten for a few minutes to get another one back.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Complete Model F
With the full essence of Model F recovered, its true power reveals itself. Let fire and brimstone explode in your wake.
Ground Fire FX [Charge Attack until orange level, then HOLD DOWN while releasing] - Surprise! This is the only one of the Guardians' charge attacks that you have to hold DOWN to use. Smash the ground with your cannon and release a short-range flame wave that creeps along the ground. Not too useful compared to the others because of the range and the fact that you must be standing on the ground.

I don't remember that level being as much of a thing as it was other than going for one bonus item on down the road. I don't know if you actually slowed the lava down or just hit the cancel button, but you played the level again a couple of more times that I'm not sure now.

Doing the upper part of area K for no reason... THAT is painful right there.
At least it's practice for cleanup!

oh hey, raocow got the orange! that's required for the true ending
i've honestly never played a video game in my life
Re: Mega Man ZX - There Can Be Only One
So now that you're at the end, there is cleanup to do, but I don't know what you want to consider cleanup.
All Lifeups and Subtanks are a given, but do you want all Chips and Usable items too? Those might take a while.
Even still, one of the two unfound subtanks is found at the end of a very long and annoying quest chain. It is literally the same quest over and over, six times, with basically no variation. I would be completely okay with it if you skipped this one.
I won't mention anything more unless a decision is made regarding this matter.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cursed Areas
I will however, note something that could prove to be fatal for the remainder of this LP.
The bat enemies used in the header of this section are something you can go through the entire game without seeing, but you DID see them in today's video, and there's a reason for that.
Certain areas, like some of Area L, are noted by the game to be Cursed Areas. If your health drops to about 50%, every so often, one of these bat enemies shows up to harass you. If your health drops about under 25%, two of them will show up. I don't quite know why these are in the game, as they only serve to punish the already struggling player even further in this rather difficult MM entry. For that reason, I will arm you with the knowledge that from here on out, you may want to start keeping your health above half, lest these jerks come out of nowhere while the screen is already busy and send you back to the game over screen.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Complete Model P
With the full essence of Model P recovered, its true power reveals itself. The shadows grow not as a force to be feared, but a shroud that protects the innocent.
Rolling Shield PX [Charge Attack until orange level, then HOLD UP while releasing] - Using the power of darkness, create a full-body barrier that is strong against weak projectiles. You can bump into things to deal damage, but it's not a whole lot in any case.
This is situationally useful, as many things can very easily pop the barrier, Accidentally clipping an enemy with the barrier or being hit with an attack that it does not protect against will outright remove it. Anything that it DOES work on will not reduce its durability at all, though.

Some of the sidequests are neat, others are meh. A lot of them are just "go to X place, get a thing, bring it back".
In the context of a casual playthrough I'd recommend them, in the context if AtMM I think I wouldn't. Maybe do a couple of the more rewarding ones, if you want? Ultimately up to you, of course.

Re: Mega Man ZX - There Can Be Only One
So fun fact, that missile Protectos launches? That's explicitly stated in the databook to be a low-yield nuclear missile. raocow just beat up a metal gear, in megaman!
PSEUDOROID FACTS!
Protectos the Goreroid (プロテクタス・ザ・ゴアロイド Purotekutasu za Goaroido) is a Pseudoroid from Mega Man ZX that attempts to destroy Area L, a forgotten laboratory. As a giant rhino-type Pseudoroid, He has a very bulky frame with equally tough armor in varying tones of brown, with details in white and yellow along with cyan lights.
Under his armor, is a fragment of the Biometal Model P, providing him considerable strength and a protective shield, without an associated element. He is very slow and heavy, which is caused by the incredible arsenal hidden in his body. The giant missiles stored behind his head are his most dangerous weapon.
Protectos is a proud and loyal Pseudoroid determined to crush anybody standing in the way of Serpent and Slither Inc.. Unlike the calm and humble Phantom, Protectos is loud, arrogant, and immensely proud of his great size, especially the weapons it allows him to carry.
Protectos was made by Serpent from half the data of Model P, with Purprill receiving the other half. Built with special emphasis in hacking, data retrieval, and bunker busting, he is sent to an old research lab in Area L that was once used by the first commander of the Guardians in order to retrieve any remaining data, and then destroy it with a nuclear warhead. He manages to transfer the data to his internal disk, but he is discovered and defeated by the Mega Man Model ZX, who retrieves the data along with Protectos's half of Model P.
Protectos moves slowly around the data room of the laboratory, which has two platforms on top of each other which can be climbed onto. His lumbering pace makes it easy for the player to attack him, but it is advisable to keep a safe distance from his large footfalls and attacks. Missiles fall occasionally as the Pseudoroid moves around, pausing to unleash his arsenal on the player, include a range of missiles, bombs and other explosives, and possesses a very strong defense, due to his very thick armor. His armor, although strong and able to withstand powerful explosions, is very weak in the head and stomach areas as they house his half of Model P, therefore striking that area will damage the Biometal as well. Protectos is also armed with high power nuclear warheads that are capable of causing incredible devastation. The extreme power of the blasts is so dangerous that he puts himself at risk by using them, and must activate a special armor program that sacrifices his ability to move in order to survive.
Trample - Protectos changes his position to the ground or one of the platforms, the impact causing four missiles to to fall vertically.
Tracking Needle - Protectos fires a series of small, slow homing missiles from the cannons on his arms.
Variable Coat - Protectos produces a temporary barrier that makes him impervious to damage.
Maximum Dynamite - Protectos unloads six bombs across the platforms which behave in the same way as the ones thrown by the Galleon Sledders; violet bombs explode horizontally and blue bombs explode vertically. He can also throw out a green bomb that will explode if the player gets near it.
Atomic Core - After losing half of his energy, Protectos launches a low-yield nuclear missile from his back which flies off-screen; he retracts into his armor; his body turns gray as he braces himself just before the missile falls; the explosion is released in a blinding light which hits everything on screen, except for the area behind Protectos's back, who is shielding himself from being hurt by his own attack. This is the only safe place for the player to stand.
Trivia
The name "Protectos" is derived from the word "protect", which suits his appearance and strong defense. "Goreroid" is derived from the verb "to gore", which means "to pierce with the horns". Ironically, none of Protectos's attacks actually make use of his horn, though there is some concept art illustrating him launching his twin horns like missiles.

So just a small bit of trivia regarding today's boss fight. The boss theme is a remix of the Vile boss theme/Sigma's Fortress Boss theme from MMX.
It's titled Trap Factory.

Re: Mega Man ZX - There Can Be Only One
Very important note since you went ahead to Area M.
You can now access the extra "postgame" content, and you can do this in any order as you please from here, but it involves Area N, the optional area to the right of Area M Transciever. Heavy spoilers inbound.
You may want to look for a way to do these extra steps to extend the amount of content:
If you did not do the above and want to do the main part of the extra content now, follow the instructions below:
If you did the extra steps above, you can do a bit more:
EDIT: P.S: I am pretty sure you just weren't holding down the charge button long enough for the saber. It does not show the green charge level like in MMZ and goes straight to orange when it is ready.

Yeah, charging your saber or buster would have sped up the midboss battle a lot. I don't think it actually "takes damage" when you hit the blue tentacles, only the yellow and red ones, so you want strong, single hits.
It seems the problem enemy of this game is the FLAMETHROWER LORD. Let's hope someone doesn't program him into SMBX.

Not actually sure about this one. Even if he was, I have never actually tried to do this on an emulator, so I don't even know where to begin, myself.thatguyif wrote: About Chirei's point of extra steps:

I think you have the right idea. Go in, see if you really want to go for any of the side quest missions, and then get ready for that finale. Game kind of wants you to go through them as you progress through the game anyway.

Under the Emulation tab, there's an option called "GBA slot". Select that and pick a GBA ROM, and the game will treat that ROM as being in the slot.

So I suppose depending on how you look at it, this game is basically just about a regular guy/girl running around and enforcing justice while cosplaying reploids from a few hundred years ago
