The game itself. It went out of its way to be needlessly hard and unfair.
The darkness gimmick and visibility in general. Some levels had serious issues with these. And when the pitch-black ghost house level came up, it caused a sharp divide in the community. It wasn't pretty.
Youtube comment incidents. There were some particularly toxic or unwanted comments in some of the videos, most notably 30.
All these led to a very disapproving tone overall.
Like, yes, all factors considered Doomsday was one of the worst LPs. But if we really want to present ourselves as a chill and welcoming community then the least we can do is stop opening old wounds and let people move on from works they've already expressed regret and received backlash for.
At least with Hyper VI Haimari wasn't here to take the brunt of the bashing and state how he felt about the project (at least, to my knowledge. If that actually was the case then someone please let me know so I can change my vote accordingly).

Though I didn't actually dislike the game that much,
people's reactions and strong opinions kinda brought the whole experience down
Uh...Do I just sign here? What do you mean it should be obvious? There are people in this world...well...a whole lot of people that can't follow basic instructions!
A very unfortunate one all around, because it did really feel like it was going somewhere promising at the start, but really just fell apart in the most disappointing way...
