What was the main music for this level? I know I've heard it before, but I'm only thinking its from a DOS game.

Heroes? (A Tron Light Cycle like game)

Suddenly, the music for Chasm of Scales from VLDC8 in the second half of Serious Tank! Oh man!

Enjl suggests it was also used in Mario Forever.

Fixed.
Also the next level's bgms are insufferable and I had to replace them with Touhou so I wouldn't go insane.
There are "Gotcha!" death traps?

Joy, oh joy.

Actually, no. If that's what you meant by lite, then you were correct. It's a very fair level all things considered.

You are right, I did hear it in Mario Forever.
I wonder if this song came from/made for something else, or if it is just some other original song put on the internet?

EDIT: Looking at the YouTube comments that came later, it from some game called Rocks'n'Diamonds. Better look that up later.

This is a bit late, but Veggie Pile gave us the best episode name of the series.

Hopefully that (minimal)(maximal) level having commercial music in it doesn't cause copyright problems for raocow.

Good lord... this doesn't bode well for people trying to copy IWBTG-style gameplay into other things.
That area needed a good 3 or 4 intermediary saves, at least, and I know from

my A2XT2 stage

that saves aren't actually hard to code. If this guy coded the instant restart, they should've been able to do that!

I have no idea what the other 3 areas are like, but I'm not putting my hopes up.

rip my chances of getting a Cultured 2 LP
If Mario has taught me anything, it's that most things rely on whether there's something good in a nearby box.

The funny part is

that the dude actually does have fully functioning saves at his disposal! For some reason he only uses them in one of the four sections though. I'm honestly not sure if that makes it better or worse, but at least it's a confirmation that he fully intended the section played today to be an endurance thing...

I'm also pretty unsure about the music choice. I guess it kind of depends if you generally like indie pop or not, but even if you do it feels like it could get really annoying really quickly.

Honestly surprised the LCJ download is up with the copyrighted music there, as IIRC the ASMBXT download was removed at one point due to a copyright claim

That goomba at the end was really a dick move even if you were expecting an ambush. As soon as the star scrolls on screen your eyes would immediately be drawn to it because it's moving and flashing. If the goomba actually fell from near the star then it'd be a lot more fair.

If they put a floor under that Goomba drop part, why keep it in at all? You have almost zero chance of dying there, so it only exists to waste your time.

I didn't think it was a terrible level regardless. Other than the ambush at the end that's basically a forced death.

Serious Tank is actually really fun. There's a lot of stuff on screen, but just the right amount of powerups to help you get through the level without trivializing it by letting you tank everything. Lots of stuff (like some of the bullets) is also placed so that it isn't too threatening, so it makes the level feel more difficult without actually making it more difficult. It probably shouldn't be possible to jump on bombs and have them detonate on your face though...

I want to enjoy (Minimal)(Maximal) because it does a lot of things I enjoy, but I'm not a huge fan. First off, this level really, really didn't need four sections. If it was just the first, second, or third section, the level would have been reasonably fun, but the level gets tiring. Sections 1 and 2 are also uncomfortably long for what this level is. I'm also not really having any fun in the fourth room. If this level was just section three, I would have had a really high opinion of it. I'm not a fan of putting music with vocals in a SMBX level, but maybe I'm just biased because I don't like music with vocals. :P

Also, ambush Goomba is stupid...

hey no i'm sorry but that level needed at least two checkpoints to be even close to passable. precision platformers stick to really short levels most of the time for good reason. i'd rather play veggie pile a hundred times. not horikawa's level though. veggie pile is better than at least two levels for sure
i've honestly never played a video game in my life

BY THE WAY speaking about copyrighted music, the level after this on plays Holy Diver. Might wanna replace that if you don't want your video getting blown up and blocked in half the world.

Ha I said The World.
